though I feel that there are tendencies toward minimalistic or ambient like tracks on planetz recently I dare to post this one.
This time I would be glad to receive more feedback dear planetz'ies. Help me to improve. Don't miss the chance and even tell me if this stuff is kind a nonrelevant for you. Thanx...
Best regards,
Peter

hard to comment.. it's what it is.. sort of a style of its own. The harmony is kind of weak, I'd beef it up a bit more. Also, I doubt the brass-ish sound is a modern thing to do. It's not exactly trance or house, but it'll stand better as a piece of music with better harmony. Because it's got a pseudo progression that's sort of there, but not robust enough.

Well, it reminded me of some of New Order's instrumental tracks from the 80's. It's definitely a rather retro sound you've got going on there. I have to agree with Kensuguro though that the melodies/harmonies need work. The seem a bit random and the various instruments don't work too wel together.
One way to work on this is to try and learn the basics of music theory: scales, chords, intervals.

Is it that bad? Completly dissonant?
Hm, I sort of know the very basics of music theory, but I not to advanced. To be honest I never learned to play a real instrumnent. All things I know about music I thought myself...
However, can you point me to some web resource where I can brush up my theoretical background.

hehe, i wouldn't say completely dissonant.

It's just that there doesn't seem to to be realy a consistant melody or chord structure in the track.
I find it hard to comment on how to fix it because my kowledge of music theory is limited at best. But i have a musical ear so i can hear when something is right or not.

well, Ken and King probably refer to the 'pseudo brass section riff' that starts and then seems to be left hanging in the middle of nowhere.
I actually like the idea and the 'sketch' of the track - regarding melody it just asks for vocals - the space is there and it's worth the effort to elaborate.
Imho to write a catching solo melody is fairly demanding in this context, a voice would get along with much 'less effort'.
The brass sound could be anything from a 'true' warm and punchy section to a synth riff, possibly even guitar would work
cheers, Tom
