Blimey, I haven't fired-up Scope for about five months now. That's mainly why I haven't posted on the other forums much - I can't remember half the things you guys are talking about
I did repair my old-skool acoustic recently though - sorted the frets out, new nut, new bridge (after much filing-down of some oversized ones that I managed to find), new strings, removed all the years of built-up wax on the body and neck - it plays and sounds lovely now! I think it could do with some new machine heads though as the tuning does drift somewhat.
Been playing it loads over the holiday, maybe I'll try to put together an acoustic thingy instead of electronica.

Oi!
Hmmm...any ideas how I can remove a bit of paint from it (gloss I think - oo-er) without stripping off the varnish? It's been there ages and is the only blemish now.
BTW, it's a Hohner - must be something like 30 years old I reckon. Got a really nice scratchplate with a Kingfisher on it

Avoid any solvent, just clean it, I found the lemon oil people uses for the fretboard pretty good and smooth for all the instrument, that and a bit of work, not too heavy handed, until it dries. If it's so "vintage" better not to risk.

Hi,
Personnaly I use Gibson Polish for cleaning as it is compatible with lacker and Polyurethane finishes. Not sure for the lemon oil!
Now, as Alfonso said I wouldn't try to remove any stains as things can go worse...

i'm not sure about the ethics of using cheap East European labour just to clean your guitar.
