Hi everyone,

I am working on a project with a guy I met on the net. It's kinda world beat with a bit of poetry interjected here and there. The poetry will be in spanish(for now anyways).

Here's what I would like from you:

I need wav files of the phrase "Ancestral sound" spoken in as many languages as possible. We have a great number of nationalities visiting here and I believe it is possible to get a great number of the wanted files.

I realise that most of you are male. So, is it at all possible to get your spouses, girlfriends or simply female friend to say these words as well so I can have a nice sampling of both types of voice?

No effects, please! I want everyone to sound as if they're in the same room, i.e. Here!

You can email them directly to me as it won't make for a big file anyways.

yikes, when do you want this by? I'm in Tokyo right now with no recording equipment. I'll be back in miami where all my stuff is by Jan 12.

I should have mentioned: There's no rush but the sooner I get your snippets the sooner I can finish the mix. Anyways, with the Christmas and New Year's holidays coming up I won't be spending too much time on the project.

I will post the languages I get in my first post so you guys know what I need.

The word ancestral has so many translations to Polish I need more explanation.

The sound that the ancestors made, heard. The old sound that lies within our collective memory, within our genes.

Does Zvuk Predkov (звук предков in russian)help you, Samplaire?

In latin, ancestral sound translates to atavistic sound.

the second one seems closer to my meaning

hehe, yeah it helps One more question though: the word 'sound' has 2 meanings and they are very similar yet different,: the sound of Pink Floyd is different then the sound of the Pretenders. The second: the sound coming from my alarm clock is annoying.

Dzwiek and brzmienie - which one?

From what you write - I think, the closest is 'the voice of our ancestors' where the voice is not meant literally. Right?

Dźwięk. But it depends what brzmienie (Tone) means exactly in polish.

The old sound (stary dźwięk)would probably be close enough.

This is fun, I'm learning new words in polish. I only wish I could learn to pronounce them correctly.

Brzmienie is a good tongue breaker

'Dzwiek przodkow' (the sound of ancestors) sounds not nice even for us (too much brzstrwstr in one go We have a break at my work so we'll return after the 1st of January and I will record the phrase then, ok?

Great! glos przodkow does sound much better in my head and to my eyes, you're right.

This might help. It's the poem that will be spoken just before all those snipets I am asking for:

Or perhaps 'primeval sound' (prastary glos)... I'll record different phrases...

Primordial is used more often.

'More often' means the Paul's case?

Primeval is correct.

Primordial is a nice idea though if you refer to Primordial Soup but I think that would tend to stray from the poetic aspect of the project. Perhaps a little too scientific, eh?
