In "Slave" mode, Sample Rate Settings window, System Connected does not indicate receiving 44.1....just remains blank.

ADAT Sync Plate is connected to Aardvard Aardsync II via BNC. Sample Rate Settings is set to "Slave" and "Ext. BNC".

Have tried three different BNC cables, and two different WordClock outputs from Aardsync.

Also unsure which Sycn Plate node is the input (assume it's the left, but have tried both, with no result.)

Any ideas?

Are you sure the aardsync is set to master?

If scope is 'slave' then the other side must be 'master'. I don't have the syncplate but there is a rule of having a red light next to the desired device setting (in scope/settings) indicating it can be used as master.

yes, the sync plate works, i have one. i think samplaire has likely pinpointed the problem. are you SURE you've properly set your settings?

and then bnc must be selected....

When you select "Ext. BNC" you will NOT see any 'red LED' showing sync anywhere. Only AES/EBU, Spdif and ADAT have the 'red LED' to show incoming clock.

However when you have the CW card set to 'Slave' and Ext. BNC connected, if the other card is 'master' you WILL see the samplerate set, letting you know that things are ok. If samplerate is NOT set, check your cabling with the BNC cables, check for termination, and make sure the other device is set to master.

Hi Doug ,
With my system, syncplate system slave only seems to work at 48K .
I've been doing a bunch of albums lately from a partner's old blackface adat .
Some songs are 48K ,the others 44.1K .
Syncing at 48K works perfectly .... swithing to 44.1K using the adat varispeed 44.1 setting ( -143 I think ) sync is lost .
Answer is probably to have Scope/Syncplate as Master , in conjunction with Vdat module , but I have yet to try that .
Regards,
Michael

i use a nanoclocks as master @44.1k no problem everyday. no problem, it works. maybe the cable connecting the sycplate to the card is not seated.....

I've spared the 'embarrassed' smilie for the complete truth...

...which is I used the 'other' syncplate from TDAT*, was too lazy to remove the board from the PC so I didn't know the proper orientation of the connector, just plugged it in and the cable went off in smoke

it didn't really help that I called myself an idiot - those minutes to restart the system with the expectation to have just fried the board with all my licenses on were long (to say at least) and my shirt was wet (at least not my pants...)
sigh - the thing recovered and I promised to never touch that connector again
(*) the connector is identical and I thought well, it's a small company, they will re-use the original design

foolish, Tom

That's interesting Gary .... I've been thinking , It makes no sense that syncplate slave works only at 48K .
I'll have to check those cables .
I'm only running adat out 9pin to syncplate in . Maybe I need to run 2 9pin cables to make a loop ( but why ? )
Cheers ,
Michael

well, i'm using wordclock(bnc). adat may indeed only sync at 48khz. this may be an adat limitation. you should be able to use bnc if all else fails.....

Yes , I think you're right Gary about the Wordclock . I managed to get it working for a while at 44.1 but it's not reliable and now it has stopped again despite numerous reboots etc ... and while at 44.1 the adat and Cubase times are different ( ! ) which is not normal for adat sync .... all clocks being correct , so it all points to a wordclock issue hey.
Cheers,
M

ADAT protocol naturally maxes out on 48KHz no? You can get up to 96KHz via S-MUX'ing; two pipes become one.

true, but i think you're refering to adat lightpipe, not adat sync(9 pin dsub on the sync plate).....
