Just been reading up on the new Scope 4.5 which I found out about today. I think I read that there was now a new authorisation key system implemented with Scope 4.5 which meant that you can now run modules (by which I mean programs you purchase such as Impressor, proTone, Transient Designer etc.) on all installed boards as standard, rather than the old system where you would have to assign your authorisation key to one board and then could only run that module on that one board.

I cannot find where I read this now, so could someone clarify this for me?

haven't read anything in this direction and it wouldn't make much sense imho.
The 'plugin authorization' is per device and per board.
If you get a new key for SFP then the devices that (possibly) come with it are authorized to that same board number you choose for SFP.

cheers, tom

Hi Astroman. I might have this wrong, but my understanding is that, when you purchase a device, that device is then authorised to run on one board only (you give a board's ID number and then get an authoriastion code to run that device on that board). It would be great if you could run that device on any other Scope board that you might have installed in your computer. I am sure I read this is now possible with Scope 4.5 but I can't find where I read this!!

Copy protection with CW cards dictated that each card's SN will have a different Key for each and single device.

no 2 cards can have the same keycodes for software or even a single device.

otherwise keys are worthless.

If the cards are in the same computer they operate as one system, with any software registered to any card available within Scope. If you remove a card, the software registered to it moves with it.
I'm not sure if this is what you're asking.

OK Let me put it another way...has anyone who has installed Scope 4.5 in a computer that has more than one scope board installed in it, found that they can now run all their Scope devices on all these boards and are no longer restricted to only being able to run their devices on the board for which they obtained the authorisation key?

If you have more than one Scope board installed in your computer then I can't see a problem obtaining an authorisation key for one of these boards and then being able to run the device on any other Scope board that is also installed in that computer. So long as you have the Scope board installed in your computer for which a Scope device has an authorisation key, you can also run that device on any other board installed in that computer. I am sure I read that this is now the case but can't find where I read this!! Maybe it was just wishful thinking.

Hi dave. I think it is the case with Scope devices that they will only run on the card that you obtain the authorisation key for. Timeworks offer an extra key generation for $39 so that you can run their devices on an additional card.

i think that's for different cards in different computers(a discount)...

Just loaded 28 Impressor stereo multiband compressors into my two Scope boards, even though I only have the authorisation key for one board. So it looks like I was wrong!! You can run Scope devices on all boards within your computer so long as the board you have the authorisation key for is installed. Wahooooooooo!!

Thanks to all those who replied.

This is normal if all cards are in the same computer.

Hasn't this always been the case? It isn't anything new with 4.5.
