I think this is the 3rd appearance of this. Has to do with multiples of 9's, etc... check for that pattern in the symbols (9, 18, 27... symbols are all the same).

Those operations you are requested to do from any number you start always give a multiple of 9. You can notice that all symbols are fixed except for those corresponding to the multiples of 9, that are always changing and always the same for all the multiples of 9....and the same of the result.
