If you could only keep one SFP synth (excluding the modular), which one would it be and why?

Orbitone Three-o-Three....lots of fun to program, does a specific task well.

Ooh.... it's a tricky one. If I'd pick two, I'd say Synchrome and Solaris. The Synchrome is such a wicked synth. Choose a preset you like and dial some parameters at random and you're there.

If just one... Solaris has to be the one. No need for words on that one

It's a hard choice between Wavelength Gemini, Germ, Thrust, Dubsub2 and Miniscope Hummel v1.0
Maybe a mix of these
Anyway Wavelength/Hummel "warming & filtering" philosophy...

ps. I've only tryed the demo but the "non plus ultra" is, for me, Wavelength Spar-C.

Hard to have a favorite between the Prodyssey/Minimax and Pro-One/Profit-5. The first group is good for distinct, often strange sounds, and the second is good for more general, clear synth sounds. I often use a bit of both in a song.

Vectron for me anyday. It's like a vector sampler in some ways. Awesome synth indeed.

The Quantum Wave demo sounds amazing, as does solaris, but i've never had spare cash to buy them yet (sorry John

Are the user devices on this site for ModIII and ModIII+Flexor good quality? Are any as good as the Bassman III or Minimax in terms of sound quality?

Thanks,
Chisel

Excluding mod3+flexor, I love Neutron's Transplanet. I'll surely keep it, expecially if I can put in my bag mod3+flexor also

Chisel, short reply is yes, more elaborated is maybe
in terms of quality sure, there are devices of very high quality, to mention Alfonso's and Atom's Flexosaurus patch build to be something like a Minimax on steroids. Modular patches are heavier on dsp than comparable devices tho.
But modular is a tool that gives you the more, the more you know about how to use it and about synthesis and sounddesign.
For a virtual modular it has very quick to work with interface (compared to lets say Reaktor, which is much deeper in terms of tweakability), ofers number of useful modules, so if you know what you are doing, then makin patch combining lets say VA and FM with custom modulation of some lfos and envelopes takes comparable amount of time to program the sound on some device, given that the device with needed features exists
