I'm assuming that at any time you can select which of the A16Ultra channels are either connected as IN or OUT, based on the linkings in the Scope routing window... assuming dual Z-link connectors.
So for example, you could have 14 line-ins, and 2 line-outs. Yes?

sure!
it's full duplex. use iins and outs in any combination/configuration.

... which means that you don't have to sacrifice inputs for outputs (as the 14/2 suggests)

as GaryB wrote, any combination applies, so 16/2 is also valid

Actually, the 16U has 16 inputs and 16 outputs. You can't use an input as an output, nor the opposite.

Do you mean I can have 16 ins coming into the Scope, and at the same time I could have say 4 outputs going out?
I thought that the converters in the box limitted you in such a way that at any given time, you can only use a converter as either an input or an output. But if it's the case that you can do 16-in recording, and also monitor outputs at the same time...
Wow!

Yep, 16 in and 16 out at the same time. 1U, sounds awesome, you know you want one =P.
