I just got me a new motherboard (Gigabyte K8NSC-939) after having read the mobo topics here. And upcoming (hopefully) minor problems have to be solved...
In the topics on this forum people were talking about setting the irq for CW boards in the Bios. Also the manual shows such entries in the Bios. Still my Bios shows none (Ver"F6" which is supposed to be the newest).
What Bios version do U have and does the EasyTune Software (bundled with Mobo) work in terms of controlling fan speed with U?

Thanx for reply, Rogurt

Try hitting Ctrl-F1 in the BIOS, it should turn on the "advanced" menu, which should let you access the IRQ setting stuff.

Can't help you with the fan part, as I replaced the supplied heatsink/fan with a Zalman one that has an external control to set fan speed.

Tried to do as you told me to. Nothing happened though. Any specific combination/timing of hitting the del and then the ctrl+F1 keys?

By the way have U experienced trouble with usb and midi? Since I installed the new mobo i get strange midi behaviour. A directly usb plugged masterkeyboard seems "sluggish", the midiman midisport 4x4 works fine on output but the input stops working after a while (midi input meters show nothing in Cubase VST5) The interface itself indicates midi data traffic.

Not really, just hit Ctrl-F1 when you see the BIOS screen. I guess the key combination might be different for your version, I guess you should ask google to make sure.

As for USB, I don't really use it so I turn it off. can't help you there.

usb midi is generally slow and innacurate. some of the boxes meant to work with specific software(like steinberg midex) are pretty good, but midi is a better connection.

sometimes there are multiple usb controllers taking up multiplle irqs when you only need 1 or 2 active ports. i'd disable one port in the device manager in that case, to save irqs.

in the past the midisport 4x4 used to work quite well (on MSI K7N420 Mobo). There´s definetivly something wrong with the whole usb thing on this new board. Hoped some user of the K8NSC-939 would have already found a solution

By the way, how do you get midi in your computer if not via midi interface? And those things are mostly connected to the usb port. Serial ports are not in use for ages...

I have 2 CW cards so I just use those cards' MIDI interfaces. I don't have a very extensive MIDI setup, so it covers my needs.

Otherwise, I'd suggest getting the latest drivers for the motherboard if you don't have them already.

Think I got it finally. The mobo drivers installation bundle installed everything BUT the usb. They remained windows standard. New install from Gigabyte website did it so it seems. The device manager doesnt show any difference (all usb drivers still supplied by microsoft) but the results seem to be ok 8so far).
