Hi, I am still trying to figure out the basics of Scope routings and haven't got a sound from the card yet. Don't know whether the problem is my ignorance or not, but I definitely need a couple of simple advices as the manual makes me sometimes even more confused. I am trying to send my sequencer's (orion platinum) midi to Modular II in SFP and then send that audio all back to Orion. I choose ASIO Scope in Orion's audio settings and I don't know exactly whether to choose Audigy's Midi or Creamware Midi In/OUt as the sequencer's midi output. As it makes moe sense to me I choose the second. In Creamware Scope I connect sequencer's midi sourse to Modular II then to Asio dest. Then I try to record it in Platinum, but I get the following messages: SFP is not running or Asio Source and Asio Dest are not included in your current project. Then I get Asio init()failed message. I'll appreciate any help to the highest degree as the connections aren't really my speciality. I also think the driver may be the problem, I installed it from the CD and Windows Xp doen't find any conflicts with it, but I don't find a driver update on the creamware page. Thank you for your time and patience. Anthony

Add an ASIO Source module, restart Orion (i.e. setup SFP properly and then start Orion, once the ASIO modules are loaded,) and you should be set. On Orion's side, make sure you have a channel setup to listen to ASIO tracks 1 and 2 with recording/monitoring activated. If you use ASIO for Orion's output also, make sure you connect the ASIO Source module's output to your card's Analog Dest.

Hello and thanks for your interest. When I connect Sequencer midi source to MOdular 2 then to Asio dest; Asio source to Luna analog dest and choose Creamware Midi In/out in Orion- I can observe the light flashing in Modular showing that it receives Midi. However I cannot make asio driver to work in Orion, I cannot receive any audio even after connecting Asio source to Luna analog dest. I tried connecting Wave source 1 and wave dest 1 instead of asio source and asio dest, and select Audigy card in Orion, but in vain. I also installed Logic Platinum 5 just to check how my card would behave with it, but it states that my hardware is malfunctioning. Please help. Thank you. P.S.Is there a way to upload pics on this site?

I think when everything is configured correctly Orion crashes while trying to play a sound using Asio driver. I suspect it's an Asio driver's problem. Have you got any ideas on how to solve it? Thank you for your help!

Mmm I don't know enough about Orion to help you much on that side.
What ASIO modules are you using exactly? Like what is written on the module itself?

Orion's error is refering to asioscope.dll. IN orion it apprears as ASio Scope, sometimes I am able to enter Asio scope preferences from Orion (to choose latency, etc), although not lately. I tried using Amphetamine synth instead of Modular II, but the results are the same- it crashes. Is there a way to route audio back to Audigy wave instead of Asio. I chose wave dest but no luck so far. My friend gave me Logic 5 and when I tried my creamware with it, it states that the hardware is malfunctioning. What is the easiest way to test the asio driver? Thanks

asio preferences are set in scope NOT the sequencer. scope is not a usual soundcard. it is virtual reality. the asio ins and outs represent PHYSICAL ins and out from the sequencer. like wise with midi. the asio source and dest module(and sequencer midi source and dest) must be in your project with the proper number of channels BEFORE the sequencer is opened. then, the sequencer configures itself accordingly.
cabling the scope project works EXACTLY like in the real world. think of the scope project as a room with devices in it. the sequencer is a multitrack....
there's no problem with the scope asio driver. i would use the asio2 24bit source with the asio2 dest, but you can use what you like, just make sure you have a matched pair (asio2 source with asio 2 dest, asio1 source with asio1 dest, etc..). source comes FROM the sequencer and dest goes TO the sequencer. right click on the source module to open the settings window where you can choose the number of channels that you want and by all means, RTM!

Hi, I think I already got the idea of Scope routings being like the real world hardware connections. Doesn't really make things much easier as I am still learning about the harware world as well. =1 Thanks for the tips, although I do think there are a couple of things I ought to configure in Orion (like Creamware Midi In/OUt in Midi sequencer). Anyway, I feel I'm starting to catch the whole thing and finally! I got it to work by connecting the Modular II directly to my Sound card using Audigy driver. I think I'll dedicate more time to the manual to read it more carefully, now that I hear some creepy granular sounds coming to my sequencer I know my software is ok and the way out of those problems is through patience and dedication. I want to thank you very much for all your support. I'll get back after spending more time trying to make the asio driver work with Orion. I still think I connected it right and the crash may be due to Orion's lack of stability. Anyway, thank you very much for now. Later
