Hi,
My Scope 4.0 Platform suddenly doesn't give any sound at all. Symptoms: No programs will generate sound through it (they don't recognize it), whereas a week ago I did not have any problem, and I did not modify anything during that period. I already re-installed windows 3 times, with scope 4.0.

can anybody help me with this?

Anyone? Sometimes I get the DSP overload warning, but then again, Scope isn't doing anything, but it seems to look for the samplerate. (it blinks 44.1khz)

can somebody help me?

is scope master?
if so, and it still won't find the samplerate, you may have a broken card...it IS fixable if it's bad....

and Yes, although on the picture it shows slave, It's master.

is there anything connected to s/pdif ?
the dialog box shows it activated (red) but the signal cannot be detrmined (hence no samplerate)

if nothing is connected you may have a ground problem and/or the cable whip is damaged
If I remember right this has also been reported with wrong acpi setups, but I'm not totally sure.

last but not least MSI's 865 boards have been mentioned with capacitor problems.
Electrolytic capacitors are the small colored tubes mounted upward on the mobo. They have a metallic top which frequently shows an 'engraved' cross. If that 'cross' has become bulky then it's highly probable the cap is broken.
A visual inspection of the mobo is worth an effort - I've had that myself recently.

yes, IS the sp/dif source connected/used? if so, be sure it's sending sync. if not, switch scope to master, or better yet just switch scope to master anyway and verify that the card works.....

I've been undergoing similair problems. My card was recognized by the system, but every 2 seconds my Pulsar card lost it's sync.

My solution was the folowing:
- Turn off your system.
- Get your Pulsar card out of your computer.
- Unscrew the I/O board from your card and take it off.
- Check the connectors for damage or dust.
- Put the I/O board back into place, making shure the connection with the board is really tight.
- Put the card back in your PC and cross your fingers.

My problems were gone and maybe you are facing the same loose connection of the two boards. Good luck!

well, I took the Pulsar II out of the socket, I unscrewed the pastic screws of both sides of the boards. But I could not see any potentially damaged detail or poor contact. Because I was worried that I would only make more damage if I tried to get them from eachother, I just pushed the two boards a bit to eachother, blew off some dust, rescrewed everything and placed it in the same PCI slot.

and my pulsar is running steady eversince...

Could easily have been a seating problem (board in PCI slot) by the sounds of it.

Well, that sounds great then! Probably was a loose contact with the I/O board, exactly the same as my board.

Could be indeed, although I could not recognize any loose connections, and there wasn't too many dust on it as well. But my card still does it's work like a horse, so pulling your card out and pushing and blowing a bit from time to time, could just be a good trick to tackle these kind of problems. I'm very glad it isn't broke!!
