OK, so i've recently upgraded my main board and re installed windows and , well, everything else aswell, it's taken a while but with al the new components and a nippy CPU its working better/faster than ever.
I've done a few tweaks and they have all made a difference, but yesterday windows decided all by itself to run a disk clean up.
NOOOOO
its the last thing that i wanted to do and i found the problem - if you go to control panel, display, desktop - customise desktop - you'll find a "desktop disk cleanup" check box... uncheck it now for those of you who haven't, and for those of you who have and have far more knowledge than i - does anyone know where the folder that all the items are cleaned up to is? it says they are cleaned "to a folder" but doen't give the extension - i need to get some files back. So stupid of me, but it is in the display folder - why is it in there - oh yes, its in there to annoy people like me who don't look for cleanup options in the display section.

Going over all items in Control Panel after a fresh installation may be good practice. Far most Windows tweaks/optimisations can be set from there.
