Hello,
yes, we have allready sold many ASB boxes.
These boxes are built with the latest 200 Mhz Sharc´s which are provoding ultimative DSP calculating power.
We allready managed to compilate our SCOPE software for these brandnew DSPs, so I can tell you allready that new SCOPE hardware with the latest and fastest Sharc DSPs will be available in future.
Sorry, I can´t give release date by now.

As long as I can use all - or even the vast majority - of my existing devices on the new hardware, I'll be OK.
An official CreamWare trade-in program would be nice, but doesn't having access to ebay constitute a trade-in program these days?

Seriously though, good news and let's hope CW sales don't die completely as people anticipate the new stuff.

No release date means it may be a ways down the road still before new cards will actually happen. This is really just a confirmation that they are working in that direction - and the company is in a healthy state at the moment. The fact that the new boxes are selling well is very good news.

Yes, I know exactly why they're doing well. Picking up a 6-voice, MIDI-compatible "MiniMoog" for $800-900 is an awesome deal. Compare MiniMoog Voyager for 1 voice at over $2k. Yes, the analog version will sound *slightly* better, but not enough to matter in the real world.
Noah was just too expensive for a rack box with only a couple of knobs that you had to plug into a computer to actually use. Nice idea, but dumb. The ASB boxes are much better; far more marketable. There's no reason they shouldn't sell a ton of them.

Yep... as always happens with hardware synths, the price starts to come down a bit as more retailers compete with each other. I think it will be tempting a lot of people (reaction to these boxes was very good on pretty much all forums I watch).
There's enough people buying mediocre stuff like Korg MS2000 etc to make something like the ASB boxes pretty enticing, considering they sound a whole lot better and in many ways are probably a lot more easy to use:
- no menus
- knobs for virtually all functions
This stuff means a lot to people who like live, hands-on instruments!
(I'm hoping in the future there might be versions with more outs and multi-timbral operation... that really would be killer)

I hope the new cards will be compatible with the current cards in SFP as well.
And wouldn't it be cool if the new cards have memory slots as well to install optional memory? It might be cool for future samplers in SFP to avoid the phase issue of the current STS series if the card has its own memory. I dont know if I'm talking rubbish here, mayby it isn't technically possible at all
But the 3.3 times faster DSP's are a great leap forward anyway! Good job Creamware!

If the new hardware will be built in an external box or so, then that's ok with me. I just couldn't make up out of this story that the new hardware won't be a card anymore. But a Scope Box with USB or firewire connection means even more flexibility!

yes, USB
no...
Too much softwares protection dongles on USB ports, too much realtime issues... Firewire is better suited for realtime (and the video guys have already tested it...)
If CW could solve these topics:
- the ability to
"freeze" Scope synths & plugins
- enough onboard RAM to not use the PC's RAM for FX processing (especially for huges reverbs)
-
the ability to use Scala's microtuning files and Just Intonation for every Scope Synths
- attractive power/price ratio compared to native stuffs
...then a new Scope hardware with these qualities and the qualities of the current cards could have its chances
