THE BASS THAT WON THE WAR!
I think you all understood why I called this library like this… obviously, because I have the strong hope to win the war I am fighting against circumstances, in part with my bass playing.
This demo shows you a little bit how the library sounds using some of its loops. Of course “all” the loops you are hearing in this song are from the sample library and will be included in the final release.
I have not mastered this demo with Reverb, EQ, or any other kind of effect that could change the character of the bass sound, so you can hear it as is. I have used only a fixed sample for the drums and about 10 samples from the bass library. Then I added a Rhodes piano to make it more interesting. There are so, three instruments, bass, drum and keyboard; I didn’t bring in a melody to the song because this is only to let you hear the bass sounds, more than anything else.
You’ll find quite a few different loops styles, I didn’t concentrate in any particular kind of music. You’ll get quite an assortment of styles by the end. This demo is nothing but an example that coincides quite much with my own personal taste of music.
I hope you like it! Enjoy!

Hey get up, Nestor is going to fight a war, you should support him with some replies
Great look into the library Nestor, It´s safe to say, I want it. It sounds good to me.
Negative is that I hear clicks between the samples, I hope there won´t be any clicks in the library.
A hint, make sure that you have the same amplitudes on the start and end points on the loops.
That can be done when you use a very short fade in and fade out on your samples.
Fade them for a very short time only, those clicks are occur when the start and end points of a loop are different in their amplitude.
Keep going!

Chris, I really appreciate your input!

Thank you for your nice words and useful advices.
The library will not have a single click when finished, I’ll make sure everything sounds as good as possible.
What you hear in this demo are rough samples, they have not been processed in any way and this is why there are clicks. What you hear comes
directly from the sequencer as they have been recorded. When I finish the library, the samples will sound louder, fuller, clearer, and no audible clicks will exist
Anyway, as this is the very first time I build proffesional samples, any advices you can give me will be MUCH appreciated, thank you again...

Ok, I'm almost sold.
Are there loops in every key?
Are there single-note samples with string slide run-offs on the releases?
How many Slap loops are there?
How many straight bass loops are there?
I am so glad you decided not to put effect on your samples(I know how much you love Moonizer)
Beautiful stuff, my amigo

nice. I'm not sure if this came up in the other thread, but are you also going to do multisamples? I assume this demo uses only loops right?

@Paul:
Yes, there will be a section of samples loops in all keys and in two velocities
Also there will be a special section of effects and noises, natural to bass playing.
I can’t tell you how many samples loops there will be in total right now, as I am in the middle of doing it, but they will be a real lot, hundreds of them… Of course I have chosen the “dry” option for almost all samples, but there will be also a special effects section, and special rhythmic sections that will be “wet”.
@Ken:
Sure Ken, there will be a multisampled Washburn-Status bass at three velocities, in STS format, I still have to learn how to mount it...
I will post more info soon, as I am finishing the shape of the library just now, in terms of organization I mean.
I am really happy with the reviews I have received via PM, thank you very much!
You'll get at least 3 more demo songs here, perhaps in this very thread, or perhaps opening new ones.

I think it would be impossible to get the same effect with multisamples because you can't get legato notes with single samples.
Am I the only one who thought the vocals were better than the bass?

You're right Brain, anyway, there is nothing like the real instrument. Nevertheless, you can reproduce quite fairly, a bass line without problems. If you want to do a solo, or build a song with a bass only melody, well, this is something else.

Wow, Nestor, I just checked your riffs... I'm impressed! Excellent playing, loved those fast funky slams!!
I will have to fire the bassplayer

You don't need to fire him, just get my library
Just a little note:
I will keep all information about the library in the Off Topic area, and here will answer only those things related to the demo itself, so to keep information in a single place doing it easier to find and read. Cheers.

i think it's a really good work...
after you finished, you should spread the knowledge of this library on other forums... i don't know if it's good to post them here.. but in the case just ask!

If I had the time I would do it Bosone, but I don't, so what I learn will be posted here only, in the Z. Anyway, this is my home
I can already tell you something: building a library is not a joke! It's hard...

Damn fine funky stuff!!
*dances*
Hats off to anybody who can put a good sample library together. Douglas over at Natural Studio (NS Kit7) has spent the last two years of his life dedicated to it!
Very best of luck, Nestor - if it's all of this quality I think you'll do well.

Thank you Royston! Yes, it is hard work;

I didn’t know it was so hard till I got into it.
I am working hard at the moment, and will hopefully have news for you all soon, cheers.
