What I would really like is something similar to the stock CW sample player but with filter envelope and a multimode filter. Or even just a high quality low pass filter that responds well to midi CC's.

P Sample Player:[/b]
Sample Player Z has a filter, it's by John Cooper, and
Sampler Player C, by Ingo Raven (from CW).
Then there's a
couple others:
8 Sample Player by Wolf stacks 8 stock Sample Players.
wavedrum by wavelength is can load a simple sample and has ADSR, slope and tuning options.
SDS by Volker Dietz has is the largest one, with 12 sample slots, a mute group, ADSR, tuning, filters etc.
I hope Sample Player Z or SDS suits your needs

What's wrong with STS?

Or you build a small modular, multi mode with envelope and tie it after your sample player.
A good starter patch.

The trouble with the STS3000 is that it has a terrible GUI and the filter is 12db. I find it too fiddly. Also, it is a tad DSP hungry. The othe sample players mentioned do not have ASDR slopes for the filter. The Sample Players Z and C do not have resonance or am I missing somethin?

Do you have modular? Any available filter or adsr could be applied to your [drum] samples :>

Mais oui, I have the modular. I wanted a simple sample player with filters for the odd pad or lead. Loading an STS for one sample seems a waste to me. Oh well, can't have everything in life.
