Sorry Paul - I can't think of a way to improve this - I don't really like to hear didj in any other than traditional setting.

For me i would replace it with a well-made synth drone, to avoid that would-be-tribal-but-ain't sound.

Sorry to sound harsh, but i find this sort of thing kind of shallow...

I totally understand that the Didji thing has been overdone. But I was really excited by the fact that this guy is actually playing it that I chose to overlook the overkill factor.

The same can be said of my Fripp-like guitar loops at the end, eh?

I liked the end very much, this atmospheric space, the guitars and the soft way harmonies would melt, very nice.

The song is a bit long in general for me. I didn’t quite like the character of way in which the rhythms are played, I would expect more concentration and some more deepness in the sound too, as I need there some serious bass drums to support the rest of the atmosphere.

I like it.
For me, the sounds are very well chosen to build up a nice relaxed ethnic mood.

Sure, this is one more Didge ambi track but I like them.
Also I like that you dare to use a delay(OhmBoy?) on the didge.

Funny that I work on a similar ethno track
and I was inspired by the cymbals play, an element I try to use now.

All in all, this track sounds like a test for you both and I would say that you´ve found each other, I´ll look out for your next productions together, I´m sure they will be more serious.

I wish I had a percussion player......

My previous comments were strictly from a personal taste sorta P.O.V, - you know , i probably hear a lot more yidaki than the average wadjbulla because of my proximity to the people, family-wise and work/performance-wise.

I know plenty of amazing Aboriginal didjeridoo players, but none from Arnhem Land (north Northern Territory), where the instrument originates.

It's worth finding old recordings of this instrument, to find out what it's about.

A special branch, hollowed out by termites...

Didgeridoo has been over used? Then what about guitar? It's not the instrument, it's how you use it. John must have a good server because this took me less than 1 minute to download.

I loved the didgeridoo and the slow guitar compliments it perfectly. Very Crimsonish. I found the timing on the percussion to lag. The conga sound or whatever that is sounds poorly recorded. He probably could use a better microphone and preamp.

All the percussion and didji tracks were recorded by my friend in Chile with a cheap microphone and an even cheaper soundcard. You would not believe the noise coming out of those tracks! I like the lag in the percussion track though. It gives a special ambiance to the track.
