Considering all the tips I received here and in other forums, I have tried to put them all in order as many of you have suggested.
Please look at them and see if there is anything missing, or wrong, or whatever.

Much thankfulness to those that took the time to write down suggestions.

I hope for many of you, this little list will come in handy at some point or another,

Step-by-step DAW Reinstallation

1. Format drives (Of course)
2. Disable on-board sound/video, modems, serial ports, etc. Any unused device.
3. Turn on Hyperthreading in BIOS.
4. Make sure the positioning of the RAM sticks is correct. 1 Stick (out of 2) in group 1, and 2nd in group two.
5. Check BIOS to make sure this is correct
6. Turn 'Plug-and-Play' to "No" in the BIOS
7. Disable virus protection till after the installation in BIOS
8. Change PCI latency from 32 to 64, unless problems develop
9. Do not partition whilst installing
10. Install only the C: drive, unplug all other drives for now
11. Unplug everything attached to back of the computer before installing
12. Use NTFS with all drives
13. Set boot order as follows: First Floppy, then CD then HDD
14. Remove the Pulsar/Scope cards prior to installing XP
15. Remove Cubase dongle
16. Start clean Windows XP installation
17. At the 'Press F6 to install a third party RAID driver' press F5 instead to choose MPS ACPI for HT
18. Leave ACPI enabled (with standard, HT won't work. What would be the best det up here?)
19. Once installation completed do service pack upgrades inmediately
20. Clean registry with good software like J16 Power Tools 2005. Use 'normal' settings, not 'deep' settings
21 set priority for background tasks (system properties)
22 Install USB drivers from Windows rather than Mobo CD
23. Install motherboard drivers
24. Install graphic card drivers
25. Install INF drive at this point
26. Install DirectX 9.0c (might need a restart)
27. Install LAN drivers as per USB installation
28. Change CD and DVD drivers from IDE to DMA if possible
29. Remove any Windows programs you won't use (Windows Messenger, Outlook express, etc), through the XP interface
30. Might be a good time to do DAW optimization. (www.musicxp.net is a good place)
31. Install MIDI drivers
32. Install Audio card (Pulsar card) drivers only and reboot. Then install SFP
33. Defrag computer at this point
34. Switch computer off and plug and install other drives. Restart PC and format accordingly, if that's called for.
35. Check available devices in Control Panel (audio devices)
36. Disable system sounds
37. Install SX 3 plus upgrades (no dongle)
38. Plug dongle
39. Start SX and allow multimedia test
40. Set it to use ASIO driver
41. Test MIDI in SX
42. Hide unwanted MIDI ports in device set up
43. Add shared folder in the device-plugin information dialog
44. Close SX and install VST instruments and and FX plugins

that's why I have a mac

do it simple. turn off ht and just install in acpi(don't press f5). you don't need to defrag. number 19 is unnessessary, instead instal the mobo drivers at this time. #20 is not needed at this point. as to #22, i have never had any problems with the usb drivers from intel. in fact they are installed automatically when the inf install is done. if you mean usb2.0 drivers, i usually don't install those and i disable usb2.0 in the bios because it takes up another irq and usb1.0 is more than sufficient. with a later version of xp, dx9 is likely included, i wouldn't worry, if a program needs it, it will let you know. also, windows updates are really only needed in this case if you are going to be on the internet(not recommended) dma should be automatic, just check to make sure it is set up that way in the device manager. there are no special midi drivers that i know of except for a specific device that you will need the driver for when you try to use it. the cw midi driver is installed when the card is installed. you'tr making this too complicated. just get started and it'll be pretty easy. most things install themselves automatically and work just fine. it should be as easy as a mac(well, almost).

the points i brought up are really not about wrong info(maybe a few misconceptions)or things that will surely cause trouble. they are just things that make life more complicated than it needs to be.

Understood Garyb, perhaps some of the points I have given him were a bit outdated, but nevertheless, they have been very useful for me. To follow a list is not very hard anyway.

Yes, in fact I was refering to USB 2.0, sorry not to point it out correctly. - Interesting point you disable it, wow, I always believed there will be incompatibility with new devices using USB in general. Well, I was wrong.

Which is curious of the list for me, is the need of remouving Pulsar cards before installing XP. I have never done such, I didn't know... I have learned one more today... Just in time as I am right now rebuilding my PC, and so, killing drives and starting with a clean install.

You too are a Mac fan? ... Well, Mac is good right, but PC can get to wild configurations, and this is very interesting to me...

was there a time that jobs and gates weren't in the same syndicate?

Is it really vital that I yank out my three Scope cards to reinstall XP?

My procedure for a 'clean install':

1) Save the old Scope folder of devices & projects to another drive
2) Install XP
3) Install Scope software
4) Activate I/Os
5) Copy the old Scope folder over the top of the new one - all old projects and activations will work
6) Reboot. Everything is perfect
7) Play music

No need to take the card out
