Do you still have the .oxe file? If so try reinstalling MiniMax from scratch. If not download it (if you can) from the CWA website. If you can manually find the DSP file just put it in your DSP folder.

i can email the missing DSP file if you can't find it, just PM me you email (although i won't be home for a few hours i'm afraid), maybe someone else is near their DAW?

is it in the dsp folder(sfp/app/dsp i believe. you could just do a search for the file in windows)? if it's in the folder is it marked read only(in properties)?

if it's not in the folder manually drag it in from the install disk(scope3x or 4x). if it's marked read only uncheck that.

no big deal, this is a common problem with the installer/windows. it mostly happens when there is antivirus software on the system and the install is done from the downloaded files. installing from the cd seems to avoid this problem most times. downloading the oxe. file from the download page of your "my page" may also properly install that file.

Hi,
I have the cd.
No virus software running on my daw.
What is the name of the file or files and locations that I should be looking for?

James

it should be in the SFPAPPDSP folder.
just select all files and remove the read-only property.

the file name is (usually) different from that in the err message. Under Win98 one could open the dsp.idx file with an editor, look up the string in the message and it would show to which real filename the item belongs.
Under Win2K the .idx file looks encrypted, compressed or whatever - at least no readable chars.
Possibly I missed the point about something...

cheers, Tom

Start > Run > "Cmd.exe"

then type: "attrib -r -s -h /s /d C:Sfp"
(don't type the quotes)

I'd put Minimax.oxe in /SFP/App/Oxe/ and restart SFP, as Mr. Arkadin suggests.

With nearly all my oxe files, I got an error message when installing and it didn't work ... though on restarting SFP ( 3.1 C ) and reloading device it works fine ...

To correct myself it's when I load a device I got an error message, not during installation .

Hi,
I put Minimax.oxe in /SFP/App/Oxe/ and restarted sfp4.
I got the same error message when I tried to load the minimax.

my previous post has the answer. if the file is there, make sure it is not marked "read only" in properties(you can use valis' suggestion to do that globally). if it's not there copy it manualy(copy and paste it drag and drop).

Hi,
I put Minimax.oxe in /SFP/App/Oxe/ and restarted sfp4.
Restarted sfp and it said it was installing the device.
I then restarted sfp and got the same error message.
I noticed the that the .oxe file had now gone from /SFP/App/Oxe/.
Other synths are giving the same error as well.
The files are not read only or hidden or system.

James

Hi,
I have re-installed sfp and I still get the same error.
I tried to download it again from the creamware ftp site (as maybe my cd is corrupt or something) but, there is nothing in my home directory.
Is anyone else having this problem.
regards,
James

i seriously doubt that the cd data is corrupt. more likely the file in your computer, and it could be in the os....

you DO have a minimax key right?

this stuff should be nearly automatic as far as proper function applies..some minor tweaks are needed, but my experience is that things work right away. you DO have an awful lot of things going on in one computer, but barring cpu overloads(not this problem) and irq conflicts(possible problem, look in accessories/system tools/system information. just what ARE you irq assignments. what is sharing with what?), everything should function reliably everytime.

if nothing is obviously wrong, probably the fastest and most effective fix is to back up all user data, format the c: drive and reinstall windows and all your programs. if done orderly and properly, proper function is a must, a slam dunk. i'm not assuming that you are knowledgeable about these things, so please don't be insulted if i suggest you check the windows xp setup and installation threads in the tips and tricks forum.

that looks like a great machine, it should DEFINITELY work.

btw, this is mentioned as a feature on the asus site,"Anti-Virus Software:TrendMicroâ„¢ PC-Cillin". are you sure it's not running?maybe it was installed with the chipset drivers(which you DID install, correct?)....

The minmax comes as standard with the scope pro, so I have a key.
I had no problems getting the Minimax to load when I had win2k on this system but with Win2k I used to get system crashes and like a stuttering noise like a stuck cd.
It all works really well in XP pro, really stable and stuff.
I am knowlegable about PC's.
I mean I am a programmer.
XP seems to be doing something strange with file perms, not sure what, cause when I try to do a find in files, often a string is not found that I know is there.
Also when I right click and change the props from read to read only on a directory, the next time I look it has reverted back to read only.
My gues is that some scope loader doesn't know where the file is.
What is it looking for (what's the name?)
What is going on with XP?

James

If the "read only" attribute isn't unsetting, its probably because read only isn't the attribute remaining set. System attribute is the only one you can't change via the file/folder properties box and has to be done via command line (as above). However you say you've done that already...

Problem solved.

1)disabled usb in bios
2)re-installed sfp
3)started sfp
4)all fine minimax loaded
5)enabled usb in bios (not usb2)
6)disabled enhanced pci to usb host controller in xp props

scope was sharing irq 23 with enhanced pci to usb controller.

Now this is fine as long as u don't use a usb device that eats bandwidth.
So If I want to use a usb 2 devic I have to now quit sfp.
I could of course use another pci slot.
Would it help if I posted my irq's and slots so people could see a working scope dual processor and gigstudio3 system.

James
