Everytime I try and connect an aux out from the stm 1632 to the input of an effect all my audio from internal devices or external devices connected to scope cease? Does this mean that all fx have to be inserts, if so whats the point of aux sends/returns?

Definetly NOT!
I use AUX send without any issues.
I don't have problems with any efx's or any mixer when doing this.
When did this problem start occuring, or is this something you just noticed? Im wondering how long you've had a stable system, or mabye your new at this. iv'e been away from planetz quite a while and i don't know anything about you or your system.
Anyway i got a feeling this is software related. Try reeinstalling the SFP software right over the existing one and mabye that will fix this. Or you could allways wait for one of the "guru's" here on planetz to give you a better answer.
They've allways come through for me.

Hi yes this is a knew problem for me as I've not tried to use effects before only the synths and they work fine.
I seem to get problems when I run the example project called synths which I've edited a little to include the synths I want. The default mixer is the 1632. As I said when connecting an aux to any effect input all soound disapears (yes I have connected the effect out to the return on the mixer)
I've since found that if I load the 1632 again firstly it loads without any aux's so i have to right click>open panel browser, then select default preset for the aux to appear?
Then if I connect the effect as before it now works??
Is this project corrupt somehow or is there some kiind of problem with the mixer?
I'm going to save this working project, close sfp and restart and see if it still works and if it does I'll try more effects.
I wish I could show you my routing but I'm not sure ho to save the file ( i've tried print sreen but what can I paste to?)
Thanks

well it all seems to work fine after doing that so i'm not sure what thye problem was there? Still not sure why the mixer appears without aux's as default either?

Try the Int/Ext buttons on the mixer's GUI panel, instead of the preset list.
