I´m having just troubles with using subgroups in SFP4. I had some posts on this topic already. Is there anyone out there who uses the subgroups successfully?
When linking 2 SubChannels and then assigning a MidiCC the linking breaks up and the left channel fader doesn´t work any more. I tried to unlink, breaking the MidiCC assingment and many other things. But the left of the (former) StereoSub faders just affects nothing. Solo can still only be switched for both channels and so on.
All in all I get the impression that lot of midi controllabe things in the 2448 (especially stereo linked Subs) eventually cause misbehaviour and error postings on reload of the project (like: nil "." of.....)
Anyone using Subs that way (stereo with Midi controller) and NOT having problems?
Cheers, Rogurt

Addendum:
I remarked that MidiCC where assigned to parts of the (stereo) Sub that I didn´t touch like the "solo" Button. I removed all assignments whatsoever and tested the Sub linked and both seperately. The "left" one stays uncotrolable by its fader. The right behaves normal. When linking both again I can controll both but only via the fader of the right chan. Reassigning the MidiControler via right mouse button on fader can´t be done anymore. I have to open the controller settings and manually remove some assignments that still seemed to be there even if I thought I removed the before (via right mouse click on fader)...
After that I can reassign a controller (only to the right fader) but only via controller settings window.

No one using Subgroups out there? Can´t believe it. Just type "Here" or something if you´re to lazy to write an extended answer...

Why not use multiple smaller mixers?

Why not taking the bus if your car lost a wheel?
It´s like with a ferrari you bought which only has 200 horsepowers instead of 350 (advertised by ferrari). Thats still a lot. And 80% of all drivers won´t need em anyway.
I´m that kind of guy who buys the gear/features he thinks he needs and I get frustrated if it doesn´t work right...
I have to admit you "workarounders" most probably lead a less complicated life

Well 3 years ago I used the largest mixers because they impressed me with their 'professional' featuresets. My 'tiny' little 8bus analog board seemed limited in comparison.
These days I build my mixing environment as needed on the fly and the biggest improvement has been in my workflow. Phase concerns are far more easily solved, and dsp loads are far far better.
Funny thing about Creamware products. The modular nature of the SFP environment is a huge strength, but people seem to often want to have a more linear workflow (XTC, massive mixing setups premade, etc). Exploration and experimentation aren't a bad thing at all but if you're facing time constraints (ie, trying to be productive) and there is an easier way its hard to see why one wouldn't choose that. About the only case I haven't seen where there was an easy way to simplify things was with the fellow trying to do massive foldback mixes of a large recording setup right inside SFP.
See what we REALLY need is a tool that gives us more time to explore the things we want. Ok that's what I need at least
