hey chaps

im having a problem with panning my midi and audio tacks in cubase. basically wheather i go left or right it makes no difference.

im using a pulsr 2 plus - main outs of mixer (xlr) to in of pulsar (xlr)

out of pulsar (xlr) to in of amp (2 tip 1/4" jack)

is this where the problem lies?

no, more likely the problem is in the scope mixer. are you using a stereo channel? if not, do you have the two channels you are using panned? if not, the scope mixer is sending your feeds to both outputs. the problem is setup not hardware...

im using the stm448 mixer with the asio 2 24 bit source routed into the in2 and in3 of the mixer. the mix l and r of the mixer going into the asio dest.

I think you need to prepare a stereo mixer channel voor each stereo audio track.
Just click on the channel's 'stereo' button, and adjust the cabeling in your project window.
You could pan the used mono channels hard left/hard right, but with separate mono channels you could loose phase coherency, so you better don't

ive ¬armed¬ eaxch of the stereo tracks within the mixer, could you explain a bit more in what you mean by change the wirring. i mean where should the be routed,

sorry for being a bit of a thicko but im finding it quite complex

if you change a mono channel to stereo, the wiring in the project window has to be adjusted, as only the 'left' wire keeps left.
You know the project window wiring technics I suppose?
Your sound probably comes from (one of the) the ASIO Source outs, isn't it?
well, just link this stereo output to a stereo channel of your mixer
if a channel was mono and you change that, you have to rewire the connection from ASIO to L/R channel.
Just try, maybe check the manual for basic technics and setups

got it sussed, for some reason the "wiring" was all going into left chanels

btw, i hate to be a total retard here but i assume if u put an effect, say a compressor in the main insert of the mixer this will be included at the final mixdown in cubase?

Assuming you have the main mix routed to Cubase as well as to your main monitors, then yes. However i would only use a multiband compressor like OptiMaster or Final Liza (if funds are tight), as a regular compressor may have some undesirable effects on the final mix (use regular compressors for individual sources though).

Sometimes I tested a Vinco in Master channel, and I think that maybe on a heavy rock mix it would be kickass, and maybe better than a multiband. I usually do a lot of acoustic stuff and electronic, so it never happened to me, I use optimaster but without squashing everything, acoustic guitar and electronic timbral layers really hate it, but if I made something like Deep Purple or Black Sabbath I think that an high-rank singleband like Vinco would be my choice.
