Our company's celebrating its 20th birthday by sending all of us on a weekend trip to Prague soon!
Good choice! Oh, I love that city.
Weekend only? That's bad. I was there for a week, and it was not enough. I hardly got to see The Very Must-Sees in there. I think two weeks there is a minimum for a never-been-before-guy.
If anybody's been there, I'd be interested in ideas of what to see, where to go, WHAT BEER TO DRINK etc...
Depends much on what you like.. but definately check out the Prague Castle. St Vitus' Cathedral may also be of good interest. Stare mesto in in's entirety is worth to see...
And don't forget to visit a café (the name of which I can't remember) that is located by the side of the main street (Vaclavské Namésti), on the highest floor, just opposite the Skoda headquarters.
What kind of things you like to see?
I don't know about beer as I don't like myself but many say that Staropramen is the best beer in the world.
Btw, they don't speak english very much there. Beer is 'pivo' in czech
The prices are unbelievable low! With price of mug of beer in Finland you can get ..maybe 7-8 in Prague, huh. And meals...about the same.
Southeast of the city is often considered "the dark side of Prague"; I didn't go there myself but a friend of mine living in Prague told that it would be the last place to go.
And last, stay away from buses and cars! The city of full of them; horrible traffic jams all the time. And especially, when the city has wonderful underground and trams. Rails are the way to go!
