Also Edirol released a portable recording device, which looks very nice if you're after more professional gear.

Funny, the remaining Beatles are suing Apple again. In the 80's, the Beatles allowed Macintosh to use the name of their record label for their computers, apparently under the condition that Macintosh would never use it for music purposes. Guess the Ipod thing is going to cost Apple some money :>

This Eridol machine seems great but rather expensive. Surely a mass market device which does the same thing will come along. There is a new higher quality MD format.

Will the Apple Beatles thing ever end? The duo who thought up the name Apple for a computer company must have been on drugs!

that is advertisement at it's best and bloody cheap - do you have any idea what a worldwide coverage on each and every TV channel plus printed matter would cost ?

and it's associated with the Beatles - shudder

- a symbol for mass compatible, risk free, (wannabe) revolutioners

The Creative Labs Muvo N200 has a line in for recording. I'm getting this. I already have small external microphones and a battery powered preamp. Perhaps the internal microphones are alright. I'm getting the 1 gig edition for under $180.

ipods break if you drop them. ipods have an expensive and difficult to replace battery. ipods for some stupid reason are not made to record analog audio.

Ha well Muvo sounds kind of stupid but the point is that Creative Labs isn't in the business of selling music so there is no conflict of interest and they allow you to record music or whatever else you want to record.

would you expect mp3 consumers to real time record only one hour of music ? those people ripp CDs at 24x speed at least

that i-thingy is focused on it's market, a (small?) part of which might be even appreciated by you, Braincell.
Finally there's someone able to sell 'music'* again. (*)in the widest context - leave quality opinions etc aside

If it is such a small amount of people doing it then why do so many other players have that feature? Apple didn't give us a reason why they did what they did. The decision was behind closed doors. Freedom is a beautiful thing. Restriction is evil.
