Hello to all.
This question is more "remote controlers" for cubase .
I've been using Cubase for a long time, since the old times of VST 3.x., being 5.1 VST/32 the last one I've used. Recently I upgraded to SX2. Mi digital mixer sends MMC to control transport, either on closed loop or open loop. With 5.x I've allways been able to control the transport of cubase with my mixer, no problems... , but now with SX it seems not to recognize MMC messages at all, the midi activity indicator on the transport bar shows when I move faders, panning, muting buttons, etc.., but when I switch to MMC, no matter what I do.. it just does not get any messages.., I've switched back to VST 5.1 and it works, using the same xml file on SX again can't seems to work.
So if some of you has been succesfull with MMC control messages on SX, I'd appreciate any help.
Snoopy.

Did you activate MMC? Check out SX>Transport>Sync Setup>MAchine Control.
Also, the VST remote in SX works totally different than in VST5 or so. See SX>Devices>Device Setup>Generic Remote or the tab page Add/Remove if your device is in the list. I had to rewrite all my Pc1600x programs.

Thanks At0m|c
Well I guess you are right on that.., it seems SX handles it different..
I did activate MMC on the Sync Setup>Machine Control, but it made no difference.
Please.., can you show me what programming you changed on your generic remote settings?, speccially on the Transport Control.
Thanks again.

I wrote a new >300kB .xml for CubaseSX, and made about 23 totally new Pc1600x presets. My implementation uses poly pressure and CC# if I remember well, both are total useless for your machine probably. I wanted them not to interfere with the SFP remote etc, so had to put everything on one channel, ch14. See
here for more info on my sicko implementation :>
Now the genuine MIDI MMC uses FA, FC for start and stop, these are special MIDI pre-assigned codes. I suspect that is what your machine is sending. If you then tell SX what ports the controller is connected to, and to activate MMC Remote, all should be set... If not, what controller are you using? Does it have an online manual so I can have a look or emulate it('s Start/Stop)?

Thanks again at0m|c
I'm using a Tascam TM-D1000 digital mixer.
It is certainly using FA and FC for start and stop.
The weird thing about all this, is that the Midi activity indicator "blinks" when I use normal, regular MIDI.., but when I use MMC, it seems not to receive those messages.
Is it some configuration on the SX to filter MMC command activity??.
I've downloaded your file, I'll study it.
Thanks again for your help on this.

Tried the same MMC commands from the Pc1600x, same results as yourself. Checked on SX's MIDI Filter settings, nothing changed. Monitored in SFP's MIDI Monitor, it sees the MMC.
Gonzoft's
Cubase SX script for Sequencer Remote module will be a much better starting point for your implementation of MMC, if you want to do it through that Remote. Mine is a bit large and a bit twisted so it fitted better :>
My SX has problems with 2 Generic Devices (one for VST Remote and one for Transport), I have to reload the second one every time I open SX. I don't bother loading it anymore, I've put all in one now which took some more time. I don't know how your other automation is set up, and if it will remember the settings.
So, if you load Gonzoft's .xml file (Device Setup>Add/Remove>Add Generic Remote>Import), you can change the 'Note On' MIDI Status to MMC. Then, if you set Adress to 1 you get Stop, 2 for Play, 3 for Play Def. Know what? It still doesn't work :z Guess they've put MMC back into SX3, as the rest of the missing features of VST5 ;(
Anyone else?

wow at0m|c ..thanks a lot for your help
I also have changed my first goal..,
I'll wait until I can get SX3 and for now I'll use the transport commands defined on the computer's keyboard, it seems faster than mouse and sometimes faster than my mixer's transport controls. But it's kind of bizzare they have missed that and other features so important for users.
Again.., I really appreciate all your help.
