Hi group,
I use Nuendo 2 and a Creamware Pulsar II board, but when using VST instruments such as MDA piano, Absynth 2, etc.. more often than not, the system will crash and freeze in the middle of a note, which then gets repe-pe-pe-pe-pe-pe-pe-pe-peated rapidly and eternally until I pull the plug. Wehn I use VSTinstruments that don't require MIDI input (such as Groove Agent) the system runs fine. Is this a problem with my MIDI driver, setup or something else?
Thanks in advance for the help.
Regards
Tim

Bump.
Can it be true that no-one else has experienced this? Seems odd to me, since it happens all the time here. Could it be a hardware fault in the sound card?

You shoud set up Nuendo exctly the same way you would with Cubase SX, so my best advice is to do a little search here, and then start applaying all the tips SX users give to solve this problem.

What is your system configuration?
What is your master controller?
Do you have a p4 with HT enabled? (turn it off)

CachemanXP output:
--- Operating System ---
Windows XP Professional SP2

NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4800 SE
Driver version: 5.6.7.2

Usage: 595/1023 MBytes
Peak Usage: 620 MBytes
--- Paging File ---
Usage: 136/454 MBytes

I have disabled Hyperthreading. I don't know how to find out what my master controller is, because I don't know what such a beast does and where it does it.
The creamware board does not share an IRQ with anything else, but there are a few shared IRQ's in my system.

i know what you talking about, i have then same prob. here,
i have similar setup,
P4 2.8HT
asus P4C800-D
512mb ram
3x cw card
winXP
cubase 5.1
sfp 4.0
i have tried tons of stuff so far, disabled HT, USB, installed standard PC mode, it happens all the same, like you said, when using VST instruments and sfp,
comp. freezes, sometimes soon when i work, sometimes later, but in about 6 hours of work, 3-4 times,
right now i'm using another computer just for internet and stuff, so i have second one just for audio and midi,
i don't have network card installed now ,
so i hope it will work ok,
otherwise i don't know.....

Make sure you have installed the latest version of the Nuendo Syncrosoft License Control Setup version 4911. You can download it at
ftp.pinnaclesys.com/Steinberg/download/Downloads_PC/Hardware/Dongle_Driver/
The release notes for this state that it fixes a Memory Management Problem, and it updates the following files:-
Synsopos.exe v1.7.0.4
Synsoacc.dll v1.7.0.2
NSynas32.sys (optional LPT dongle driver for old Cubase VST dongle I believe, which I don't use anymore so I didn't install that)
SynasUSB.sys v3.5.1(USB dongle driver for Cubase SX & Nuendo)
I have just upgraded my PC and was running into similar problems with Cubase SX 2, but since I updated this file things seem to be working ok now.
Best of luck and if I can think of anything else I will let you know
