hi
why not a
mixer 24ch(or more is better) with
4 insertsxchannel
4 stereo aux(1 more the stdm24 48)
fader for channel and phase compensation
midi automation on fader and insert aux solo and mute too

(no eq no comp no gain no bus and others things)

Uhm, this sounds exactly like the STDM2448 to me, if you bypass the comp and eq?

And there are 8 aux sends.

I'm currently building a HUGE 16-channel mixer/bus routing system with three layers of buses (all stereo, all the way through). Four insert slots for each channel and four insert slots for each bus (six buses in each bus layer). It isn't 24 channels, though, only sixteen. If you want 24 channels I could slim it down to one bus layer and add a few more channels. I'm not sure when I'll have it done, but it's going to be REALLY COOL!!

Cheers,

Shayne

OK, well, I'm working on it right now!

By the way, each bus will be able to send to the main mix and/or have its own dedicated output. I'm drawing the idea of this device from Sonar 3's universal bus system.

Such a simple 16 track mixer would be a good idea, because the pulsar mixer is oversized and I prefer to use plugins instead of channel EQ and Comp. Indeed I hate the channel comp. but creamware told me it's the same algorithm as the plug in. So it's the handling.

But I have some improvements:

- The Aux buses can be stereo but alternatively mono.

- The Aux busses should have pan-pot.

- The mixer must be chainable. For this you need some extra inputs for the bus signals and the sum signal of the other mixer.
So there is no need to mis-use channels for this. Etc.

Or - much better - such a simple 32-40track mixer that can be automated via more than one midi channel. 100 controllers are barely enougth to control a 24track mixer.
(fader, pan, aux, solo, mute)

I don't yet know how to do a stereo/mono switch for signal paths so that'll have to come at a later date. No ETA yet.

Bus sends from channels are going to have a pan and volume control for each send, plus the busses themselves will have a pan control.

I don't know what you mean by "chaining" mixers, but I'll add dedicated inputs for each bus in addition to the 16 channels. That'll be easy.

I don't think the Scope architecture allows for more than one MIDI channel at a time. I think you're out of luck there.

Unfortunately, due to huge file sizes, I had to slim my mixer down to two layers of busses with three buses on each layer. But it'll still have the same architecture as before.

At the moment I'm waiting for advice on how to get insert slots to remember parameter information. As soon as I get the green light on that, I'll try to finish up the new mixer. It'll be great!
