Honda's ad is based on a video produced by two Dutch chaps (IIRC) called "The Way Things Go" (which I also have).
The Way Things Go is very "low-tech" compared to the Honda ad, set in a huge warehouse but has a greater variety of methods used to chain the events together. Well worth checking out:
