Top-10 new features of Cubase SX3

Audio Warp: Realtime Time Stretching and Pitch Shifting offer extensive new audio editing and processing capabilities, including ACID® File support: loops automatically adopt a project´s tempo; audio files can follow tempo changes in realtime.
Intuitive Play Order Track for pattern-based arranging adds a new level of creative music editing. Divide your song into sections, and then re-arrange it on the fly. Compare alternative versions of your song and then convert them back into a linear form for mixdown and mastering.
New Inplace Editor supports ultra-fast direct MIDI event editing from within the project page. Edit MIDI events in context with audio or video.
New MIDI Device Maps / Panels support direct access to external MIDI hardware with user-definable graphic editing panels. Import VST Mixer Maps or create your own editing panels, even for the Track Inspector or the mixer´s channel strip.
User-definable Workspaces (window layouts) help organizing your desktop. Create and save a separate workspace for each step of the production process. Switch Workspaces on the fly, as if working on multiple computers or monitors.
Studio Connections "Total Recall" support (optional integration of Yamaha´s Studio Manager 2). The first step into a new dimension of software/hardware integration. This modular editing system builds a powerful bridge between the virtual and physical studio. Opening a project can recall an entire studio setup within seconds.
External FX Plugins allow for direct integration of external hardware effects processors into the VST audio mixer. Use your favorite outboard gear just like plugins - including automatic delay compensation.
Extended Freeze function for virtual instruments and audio tracks with added flexibility and improved performance. Freeze virtual instruments with or without insert effects. Then automatically unload the instrument to free up RAM. Freeze audio tracks with insert effects to free up even more CPU performance.
New part-based Volume Envelopes for direct control of dynamics. Fix level problems on the fly without wasting automation tracks. Then move events with their volume envelopes.
User-definable Color Coding for tracks and VST mixer channels provides more clarity and better orientation - especially in complex projects.

That "external effect" thing looks cool...I guess they stole that idea from CreamWare.

I guess Cakewalk and Steinberg are trying to one-up each other here.

or from logic

mmh, beside the audio warp stuff I don't see anything else than self-evident improvements. Calling improvements new features is .. well .. pure marketing ?
I hope for the users on osx, that it works .. at least .

best

The volume envelopes sounds like it is straight from tripledat. I think For pure recording quality, and for audio only format, the soon to be realesd 3DAT will sound better, and edit better. It probably will not have auotomation, but with volume envelopes that actually effect the graphic of the wavefile. Who needs automation? That's something that SX has never had. You can draw curves and dots around to your hearts desire, but the wafeform never changes. Optimazation was especially a cool feature.
For those of you that might be new to pulsar,Tripledat was a creamware 16 bit audio program that was awesome. Finally the 32bitXP version will be out in about 2 weeks they say. They said that 4 weeks ago. It is Worth waiting for though. I only wish they would put something on their website about it.

Moving the attack/decay handles on audio events does this in SX, and you can edit the curves too

some great new features here, like the pattern based arranging, and the audiowarp. The volume envelopes are actually pretty much the same as the dynamic events from VST which were scrapped in SX 1 (extensive campaigns have been fought in the Cubase forums for their return). Also the midi device maps seem to be a feature from VST left out of SX.
So yeah, good marketing strategy selling people new features which were actually in VST but scrapped in SX.

But hey, I never upgraded to SX from VST so maybe this will be the right time to do so.

No matter what new "features" there are, i thinks most important is what they did with audio engine. SX2 has much different "sound" from SX1. Not necessarilly project recorded in SX2 will sound the same in SX3...

May good prevail on Earth

First of all SX 2 is working perfectly for me and secondly SX2 didn't come out that long ago. I hate it when companies release upgrades too soon because you end up paying more for less features per upgrade. It's also a form of extortion because you run the risk of upgrades getting more expensive as you fall behind or your Cubase projects not being compatible with other Cubase users.

Maybe someone in here could tell me if there are compelling new features.

I guess the pattern thing could be kewl. Not sure if it is worth the upgrade cost.

I for one will not buy this upgrade unless one feature or another is simply AMAZING!

All of my friends have stolen Nuendo, but I won't on principal. SX2 is doing just fine, but I'm just waiting for the day when I can use Muse or Rosegarden under the DeMudi Linux Distro. No paying for updates ever again.... just new CW plugs.

I won't be buying it now or using the cracked version. I guess I will wait for version SX4 unless they lower the upgrade price.

Guys,I think you missed something...look at the LANGUAGE....

Version: 3.0
Language: German
General requirements: This product can only be delivered within Germany

Is that means that cubase 3.0 can be only in german???
