I'm wondering if magix music studio is VSTi compatible. Music maker is VSTi compatible... but I'm still unclear about music studio. I'm looking for a package that's simple and easy to use to recommend to my friend. (who is not very computer literate)

only VST and the Music maker can handle 1 VSTi.

musicstudio can use vstis. actually, musicstudio is two different programs. midistudio is a sinple version of logic. ir has a vst interface just like logic's. audiostudio is samplitude v3 or 4......

musicstudio is a very good value and an excellent starter.

Still have one of the first Music Maker versions lying around, boxed, it was my first music program. It's some years old, for example the distortion effect goes like 'a little', 'moderate' or 'a lot' Short after that I got Samplitude, that was day and night difference...

I'm sure Music Maker has evolved now, but back then it was ages behind.

The funny thing about this app is that it's a
very slimmed down version of Logic(no I'm not kidding). I bought it for the free samples from Guitar Center for $20. I suppose it's allright.

Hi JJ84,

I have no experiences with Magix products as I said. My brother does  Anyway, if you have any questions regarding it I can contact my brother (Artur - he lives 600km from me) and he'll obviously tell me anything I want (you want to know)

Don`t mess them all up:

music maker is a different thin than music studio.

1. Music maker (actual version is 2005)
is basically an audio Loop Sequencer with limited midi capabilities and VSTI, ASIO (not multichannel) and video support. Best comparable - I`d say - with acid - in case you know that programm better.

More Details about could be found here:

http://site.magix.net/index.php?id=234

2. Music studio (actual version is 2005)

is a program package built on midi and audio studio.

Audio Studio is a tracked down version of Samplitude that means a multitrack audio editor /arranger wiht built in Effects able to burn audio - mp3cds or whatever. It is restricted to 16 bit although it handles 24 bit files as well, but doesn`t allow the recording to do so.

Midi Studio is a standard Midi Sequencer best comparable with micrologic A/V .

Of course - both program parts do support ASIO.

More Details could be found here:

http://site.magix.net/index.php?id=234

And yes - you could use them as well as any other program for making music.

But do not compare it Logic Pro - Nuendo or else with it - Those Programs are designed esp. for beginners and fans. You´ll get much for the price - I'd say.

makes me think what pros have looked like when those SEK'D apps where sold as cutting edge technology...

cheers, Tom

ps: afair Magix had some 'wannabe' products, but a shameless marketing, touting their stuff in unbearable TV ads. Seemed to work as later on they were able to aquire SEK'D, who possibly ran into financial trouble - reads familiar...

please correct me if I'm bloody wrong, because I never consider any Magix stuff due to those reasons - I'm kind of unforgiving in that context.

err, well then have a look at http://www.samplitude.de

audio studio is not really a samplitude, but comparable.

Samplitude is a fantastic thing when it comes to Mastering.

And SEKD was just a name. Program and developpers never changed - only the company name.

wow, talk about digging up an old thread..

Someday, Samplitude will have kick ass midi sequencing abilities, and I'll be the first in line to get it. Some day.
