hi,
today, I discovered a new workflow:
you can load devices (synths and sampler) directly from the mixer!
no routing window, no livebar, no cable

Yes, and you can open them by double clicking the names once something is loaded

great tip there, thank you.

I like the Live Bar but find that I spend a lot of time "Travelling" between the STM2448 mixer and the Live Bar... This is more "in-context".

Take care

Yes, this is a great way to work.

But why are there only three folders showing in 'Load Device'? You can choose between Synths, Plug-ins and Sampler. I would like to add a Players/Recorders folder containing my CD-player, DAT-recorder, MD etc... I know I can put the folder into the Synths folder, but it makes no sense to have these types of equipment in there.

Does anybody know how to add your own folders?

hi

create sub-folder(s) in your plugin folder e.g. ScopeDevicesPlug-Insfree

you can create as may sub folders as you want

for me it works correct

I know you can make your own folders into the Plug-ins, Synths and Sampler folders, but is there a way to create more folders next to those three. Since my outboard gear don't belong in either one of them, it would be nice to create a new folder in Scope/devices, but they won't show up in the mixers.

Save the external IO using the External Effects/Dest/Source (see manual). Put them in a subfolder of Synths or so, if you want to load them from the mixer. I prefer to load them in the Project View, and made a HW folder under Devices.

I'm not exactly sure this method works, since all the devices would be receiving MIDI data on only one channel (the one the STM is set to). Am I wrong about this?

The device is loaded outside the mixer so you can still connect the MIDI input to whatever you want, plus it appears in the LiveBar, so you can set its MIDI channel number.

Thank you for all your advice, but this is not what i meant.

The STM mixer only recognizes the Device folders "Plug-ins", "Synth" and "Sampler". All the other foldes in Scope/Devices are not shown. Since my CD-player is not a Plug-in, nor a Synth or Sampler,I would like to add a folder named "Outboard Gear" in Scope/Devices. It works perfectly for the Routing Window. But how can I make this folder working in the STM mixer? Maybe it's just not possible and maybe the only way to go is to copy it into the Synths folder, but isn't there a cset.ini entry or something to make other folders visible in STM?

Save the external IO using the External Effects/Dest/Source (see manual). Put them in a subfolder of Synths. That's as good as it gets

Well O.K., if that's what it is, then that's what it is. I was hoping for a tweak or something to make different folders visible. Just don't understand the restiction of only three folders. I already put all my gear into the Synths folder and it works fine, but it is a little ackward to load a CD-player from a synths folder... Nothing I can't get used to though!

Oh, I thought it loaded directly INTO the STM mixer like an insert effect! I guess it loads the synth into the routing window/Live Bar and then connects it...silly me.
