I was totally into this until the brass part and ditto for the marimba, other than that it is incredible, so most of it is fantastic but parts of it are really bad. Clearly there will be people who disagree with me on this. Who am I to say what is great and what is not? You asked for our opinions and that is mine.

Be honest Paul, you don´t like it really?!?
Of course, you can be lost in this kind of producing music but all those loop progs or preserving jar productions, as I call them, are not representing a(your)real skill.
WIth other words, I don´t believe you aren´t alive with it.

Sure it´s funny to play around with it, but this is static stuff. I´m totally on the other side of Braincell, the Brass like lead was the most innovative part of this track.

But damn, this track has a very good sound and drive...

To be honest myself, I use Acid alot to pre-arrange the rhythmical thingies before I go into the details with Cubase.

Here goes:

Logic Audio
Poison synth for the bass
Prisma for the first pad sound
Saturn for the sweeping pad
Metamorphosis, Stylus and a "Dinesh" rex file found on the net for the beats.
The voice is from Vocal Planet.
The marimba sound Braincell refers to is a Rhodes Suitcase.
The brass sound is me playing a GR-300 Lead sound on my GR-30 guitar synth. I try to fit that sound in whenever I can. If Pat Metheny can, why can't I? hehe

How many people over 45 do you know who try to compose in this style?

Yes, you got comfortable with recording few bars of your talent.
Combining nice ideas on looped tracks, on a small arrangement.

Of course, this track has your touch but I don´t like it, really.

Where is the continue of your Tangerine of Air Sculpting track?

very nice groove, except the soloing brass I like it!

For many years that solo sound drove me nuts. Recently I have grown to like it. I think it's rather groovy! The track is very good. I saw Loop Guru live around 10 years ago & your tune took me back. Keep at it!

I think I remember seeing Loop Guru open either for the Orb or it was at a festival where System 7 played. I remember thinking they were pretty good.

Back to your song: I find it really quite nice Paul, it's cool enough:-)
i would just select one or a few short parts out of your soloing part, and apply some tricks on it with effects and/or wicked electronic tricks .
You'll be surprised how exiting it can be to hear such a part, the zooming or magnifying-glass effect can work very stoned and fascinating (remember my muted-trumpet song? same trick).
If you f.e. would find a 'new' count-one of such a selected part, revealing a new unintended rhythm, this can give you the magic lead thing this and every track needs.
This way you stay with your own personnal approach still without loosing feeling for style, if you know what I mean.
Your soloing part is just part of your sample sources, remember you can't play at all
