Hello everybody!

I've got a big problem since three days:
I can't use my Pulsar 1 with SFP 4.0 in Cubase VST 5.1 with XTC mode anymore.
Everytime I open Cubase, I obtain the following messages:
"ASIO driver could not be loaded"
"CreamWare PlayRec 1 ErrorCode FF7-5-000C[20] Device could not be opened"
"... FF8-5-000C[20]..."
-all messages 2 times-
Then I cannot switch to ASIO Scope in ASIO settings in Cubase - error messages!
I just reinstalled SFP 4.0 even 5-6 times now; SFP 3.1 didn't succeed either.
I don't know what to do now - it seems that there is no XTC project loaded when I start Cubase or am I wrong?
XTC is enabled in Pulsar settings and there is no project already loaded when I start Cubase. I don't know how this could have happened - I just disconnected a SPDIF plug (nothing was running!)
By the way: is it right that there is no chance in SFP 4.0 installation any more to select XTC or "normal" installation?
What shall I do now?
Thank you in advance for your help!

Best wishes,
Ulrich

I don't use XTC, but the fact you say that you had a spdif in that you disconnected makes me think you had external clock and your card as slave.

If it's so, and no clock is coming in, drivers don't work and it's like asio are not present.

You could try to hook an active digital clock to that spdif and see what happens, or load your XTC project in SFP mode and change it's clock settings. Ext. or Int. clock are saved in a project.

Thank you for your reply.
I checked the master/slave configuration - everything is right. The Pulsar is set on Master as it should.
By the way - this option will be reseted with every reinstallation - doesn't it?
I don't know what I do wrong. Which files do I have to delete manually to confirm a "clean" new installation (exepted from what the uninstaller already does)?

Best wishes,
Ulrich

What happens if you launch sfp mode and then Cubase?

make a project with both asio and wave, sfp mode, then load cubase and reselect asio.

Thank you Alfonso,

SFP mode is working fine (both wav and ASIO devices included). I am able to select the ASIO Scope in Cubase.
But when I switch to XTC mode again in sfp settings (after closing all programs of course) and restart my computer (even if not) I have the same errors again. That never happened before!
I don't understand why because after the reinstallations everything has to be new and initialized??
What happens exactly when I enable XTC mode?
I do only know that the XTCproject.pro will be loaded when I start Cubase (or even before??)
Are there any other projects or special devices I have to check?

Best wishes,
Ulrich

You don't have to enable or disable XTC mode all the times in the settings. Enabling it just make possible to use it. If you have SFP loaded (the Icon in the tray is visible), when you launch cubase, as you know, you get in SFP mode. To get in XTC mode you just have to be sure that Scope app is closed when you launch Cubase. Both of these options can run with the XTC mode "enabled" in the settings.

Now, the reason for wich after closing SFP and launching Cubase the XTC background app. doesn't load, provided that XTC mode is "enabled" might be caused by some defect in the installation of files in the Cubase directories for something weird happened with installation...

Try to post a link to this thread in the XTC section of the forum or check there the several related topics...I can't be of too much help on the specifical issue...

Good luck!

Have you tried to open that project in Scope? Be carefull on editing it, more info in the XTC forum. But check if there's any ASIO drivers at all, what samplerate the clock is set etc. Cubase should find the ASIO drivers, although this project won't be of any use when loaded like that. But check out what's going on there...

Yes I checked the XTCProject.pro Everything seems to be fine according to the postings in the XTC forum.
There are ASIO source/dest of the same type and the master/slave settings are ok - I have not connected anything digital recently.
It's confusing!

It's me again - I reinstalled Cubase. But the problem is still there.
Now I don't receive this error code mentioned above but a message, that sfp is not running or that there is no ASIO source/dest inside the patch.
But this cannot be true!! I still try to run the XTC mode and in the XTCProject.pro there are ASIO source/dest!!!
If that's not enough - one of the XTC devices always crashes when I start Cubase.
Is anyone familiar with this situation and could give me an advice?

By the way - I also run a DMX 6fire 24/96. When I choose this ASIO Driver - Cubase works fine. But I want to run my Pulsar 1 in XTC!

Best wishes,
Ulrich

very strange...
of course, after enabling xtc mode in the settings checkbox you CLOSE scope and then start cubase, right? i think that it MUST work in that case if everything is installed correctly.....

Yes, that's right. My knowledge is getting thin right now.
The basic point is - wether if I enable XTC in sfp settings or not - when I run Cubase without starting sfp before (XTC mode!) I get a message that no ASIO device is included in the current project.
I guess that the XTCProject.pro is not loaded anyway - and I don't know why. Even after 8 reinstallations up to now  I even removed the driver in device-manager.

hmmm....
the age of your sequencer maybe? sx2 works great here...

Yes, I already thought about SX2.0 but I can't afford it at the moment.
I do know that Pulsar 1 works with VST5.1 in XTC - I used it this way all the time.

Is anybody out there with helpful expert-knowledge?
Situation doesn't change.
I can't understand why the CreamWare Record/Play device (wav driver??) is activated when I want to start Cubase in XTC mode - it has to be the ASIO driver!?
Why does Cubase complain about a non-existing ASIO device at startup - they ARE integrated in XTCproject.pro!

Best wishes,
Ulrich

you DO have to choose asio drivers in the vst setup(bet you knew this..)....

Yes, that's right.
Correct me if I'm wrong:
The error message (CreamWare Play/Rec) belongs to the WAV driver (the one I can select in Windows's multimedia settings).
Why does Cubase/sfp want to have access to it in XTC mode??
Actually it has to be the ASIO driver to be loaded in this mode?!
What the hell is going on there?

cubase is looking for the wrong driver. reselect asio in cubase and then restart. s/b o.k...

That's the problem - I can't select it in Cubase when I want to use XTC mode. I get the same error message if I do and my choice is being canceled. Even after 5 Cubase-reinstallations!
Even worse - now Cubase isn't starting (freezing!) in XTC mode; when I start the sfp first everything is ok.

if you can rule out hardware failure, back up all of your personal files and folders and start over. be sure and fdisk and reformat(both).

there is a bad file somewhere, possibly even unrelated to scope or cubase, but finding it could take months. just nuke all the files and start over. install in this order: http://www.planetz.com/forums/viewtopic ... 10&start=0

Ok thank you!
I don't know if these are hardware problems - I don't think so because in "normal" mode everything is running fine.
Well, a windows reinstallation seems to be the only way out. Recently I'm thinking of buying a cheap additional computer for internet/office/... maybe this could be a prevention.
Thank you for your advices and your time!
