Greetings -

and thanks in advance for reading this.

I have Pulsar II, SFP 3, Mac G4 400, OS9.2.2 and OMS 2.38 and DP 2.7

Everything worked fine for months! Suddenly and for no apparent reason - OMS will not recognize the Creamware driver - in the OMS window Creamware port One shows with a ? - DP will provide only IAC ports (no Creamware) and indeed there is no way to play MIDI into or thru SFP.

I have tried trashing prefs (OMS and SFP and DP), removing all traces of OMS and reinstalling, trashing the Creamware Driver and installing a new one - using different Extension sets, etc - no luck.

ODDLY ENOUGH - OCCASSIONALLY when opening various old files in SFP and/or DP (can't detect a pattern) - the entire kluge will somehow be tricked into working - OMS sees Creamware ports etc - but that is not often and I can't reproduce successful results.

Again - thank you all very much and I appreciate any ideas or input!

best regards

Ed Mann

What's your Pulsar sync position? I mean is it master or slave (audio)? If the latter and you see "--" in the samplerate window then you have the answer. It's about audio, I know, but it affects midi, as well.

This comes to my mind now but if I remind any more possible solutions I will tell you

At least on PC, but on mac I'm sure is the same, the samplerate and wordclock source settings are saved with the project, so if you save when slaved to external converters, and you open the project without the digital source on, you can't load drivers...

Apart this, macs are misterious things for me, so I can't say anything else...I hope you solve it

THANK YOU SAMPLAIRE AND HUBIRD (and alfonso)!

your insights and suggestions hit is right on the money. All works well now - 100% consistant. I had no clue about the Slave/Driver thing, that is why it was hit or miss.

I consider myself to be quite fortunate to have this thing resolved - this forum is invaluable.

I am so completely happy with this Pulsar II plus the synths and plugs - the sound is fantasticly clear and dynamic. Really great.

OK - thanks again and best wishes

Ed
