OK, thanks for some of the tips on this forum I have been successfully (?!) running my Pulsar in xtc mode in SX2, but I am still getting clicks and stutters in audio export/mixdown. I thought doing it in real time would fix this - but it just helped reduce it. I though if I really reduced my processor load it would be ok, but sadly, no  At least, it was ok for short audio clips, but when it came to mix-down, there are always glitches.

So now I would like to run it in SFP mode. If I understand this correctly, I need to edit my XTCProject.pro which everyone talks about. Problem #1 is: I don't appear to have one. Where is it???!! It's not in my projects folder, or anywhere on my hard disk or even on the SFP3.1c installation CD (I SEARCHed for it). So do you have to make your own?

I have a few other questions if someone would be kind enough to help me out:

#2 if I manage to run SX2 in SFP mode, I understand I can edit my old tracks so they use Pulsar effects as Sends in Cubase, but whatabout tracks where I have them as inserts? Is that possible??? And what about Pulsar synths I want to wire into SX2 for VST effects etc. Argh! It all seems very complicated

#3 Alternatively if I have to use pulsar in xtc mode in SX2, is there any way around the bug of not being able to change the frequency of LFOs, etc???

#4 Is there ANY way at all to export or play my writen tracks in xtc mode without clicks etc.? As I said, I am already exporting in real time.

#5 Should I have just bought an xtc card instead - does that actually work with sx2? (I just bought the pulsar for future expandability).

These bugs infuriate me - I thought this card was suppose to WORK - I paid enough for it after all.

Really sorry if these are stupid questions or already answered - I couldn't find anything except the very useful post by Gonzsoft (should this information not be in the CW manual????).

thanks

hi.

#1 you only need XTCProject.pro for XTC mode. Run sfp.exe for SFP mode.

#2 insert them in the sfp project

#3 automate the plugin: press write, select parameter you could not edit, draw it

#4 not on my machine, but seems to work well for others. Did you try recording from the Merge port?

5# no, IMHO CW should never have sold that card

Not many bugs, just a lot to discover

Oops yes, sorry, the XTCProject.pro is for xtc mode. But I still don't understand why I don't appear to have one. Or if it would help me (since I don't have any external effects or synths)

thanks a lot for your help at0mic.

the xtcproject is in scope/app/xtc/xtc/app.
it must be edited in sfp(scope) mode.
you need it to load the proper asio paths and the route out of your computer.
don't use export,or if you do,be sure that you use REALTIME export.

*edit* why not use sfp mode for putting your ideas together? connections are easy and flexible plus ZERO latency monitoring. you can then record the tracks to audio which will sound better and be easier for the sequencer to handle. finally, you can mix in xtc mode for maximum ease, sound quality and minimun cpu load.....

Thanks for that! I found the file - strange that I couldn't find it before... Anyway!

I also got rid of nearly all glitches by bouncing tracks to audio and reducing cpu load to less than 40% or so. Still trying to work out how to get another track to a low enough cpu useage, but FX freeze looks interesting. I'll definitely check it out.

thanks again!
