.... where there are no answers (in the manual)!
I have a small problem that should be easy to work out...
I can't get a midi signal in SFP. I'm using a midi-interface which is connected via usb. With the old Pulsar software I didnt have to do anything - the signal was just there ( is it possible that I have to make some arrangements here?
Second - Is there any logical explanation why it's not possible to use effects and ins. in a sequenser while the sfp is running?
Third - In SFP, the sfp (control) window always stays on top, even if I turn it off (the always stay on top function).

Are you refring to the live bar? Precise use of words makes help much easier.

yes sorry
In the third question i'm referring to the live bar..., and in the first question to the "environment".

The always on top function - is it the actual "red lines knob", or are you refering to my cset.ini tweak posted here and on cwaudio.de?
If it is the first case, the live bar is a bit special. The red lines knob refers to always on top of other programs. Unless you mess with the cset.ini, the live bar will always be on top in the SFP environment.
If you are new, I would recomend you to NOT mess with the cset.ini yet. You may get biproducts, wich you later think are bugs, when you are in fact a "hack" of a system file.

In response to your MIDI question....have you connected the appropriate source & dest modules in SFP?....if using a sequencer:-
'Seq Midi Source' represents MIDI from seq to SFP, so this is what you connect to Pulsar synths etc.
If you're wanting to record MIDI generated in SFP, eg. by knob movements using mouse, connect your synth/fx MIDI out to 'Seq MIDI Dest' module. (after assigning MIDI cc by right-clicking knob).
Question 2, yes, there probably is a 'logical' explanation, but you've not given enough detail.

Maybe try and remove the midi module and reloade it. I have a faint memory of a workaround like that from an older update.

Yes offcourse I have connected the appropriate source & midi dest modules in SFP. It works fine as long as I'm using Cubase, but I want to understand why SFP cannot retrieve an midi signal without having to route through a sequenser first! Thats strange I think... - Or maybe there are some drivers I'm not familiare with...?
And actually I'm pretty sure ther's no need for any more detail about my second question, because i'm pretty sure there is no "good" logical explanation conserning that issue...
tanx. Almost everything is running now, even though i'm not quite sattisfied... I still have a (small) problem...

Hi Icedick, are you telling that you do have a midi signal in SFP coming from your sequencer, without first coming in in SFP in a Midi src module?
If that is true, something must be wrong in your hardware midi setup.
I'm not familiar with usb-midi, but I'd say there should be midi connected one way or another to the hard midi-in of your pulsar card, to get the signal in SFP first

Like there should'nt be midi in your computer if you don't have SFP open.
Strange you had this working before, as you say.
Not of much help, maybe someone else can go further here

You can reach Cubase (I have Cubase) with usb midi and route the midi track to Creamware midi out. Why not?
Is cubase or whatever set as midi through?
Is the track out routed to CW midi out?
Did you check if you don't have the emulation ports problem of SX if you have SX?

that's how it is with usb midi.you can use a program called midi-ox to route the signal from usb to anywhere(connections are seen by sfp as sequencer midi). you could also connect an actual cable from the midi box to the card's whip....

Hey sorry, man- I'm only trying to help, but I honestly don't know what you're talking about

Ýes, I will just use the connection that I have now, with Cubase receiving the midi and sending it to SFP, and theres no reason why I should not... But I was just wondering why this "usb midi receive" feature is'nt built into SFP....But now I at least understand how SFP picks up the signal... tanx !!

i think it has something to do with the fact that it takes a program to use a driver.the sfp midi source/dest modules represent drivers for the pci card. the usb interface is also a driver. driver=a bridge between hardware and software.
to use both bridges(by nature beginning with hardware and ending up in software) in order to connect two pieces of hardware(the cwa card and the usb midi port) you need a piece of software(the endpoint of both drivers) in the middle.

genious explanation Garyb

that's the way I need it, this way I think I could understand all those things!
thanks alot
