hi all !
is there any simple and short explanation on how must i set 808 or 909 groover , so when i hit play button in cubase, also groover starts to play, automaticly, synchronized ?
I want to use it like my only drum - percussion machine...
thanks

FOUND IT!!!
well.. it's easier than it looked like..
in fact, the issue here is that both, 808 and 909 groovers are built using Clock Divider C... which don't have Start/Stop control...
so what I did is the following:
1) change the clock divider for the A or B
2) connect the Start/Stop output on the MIDI Clock to the S/S input on the Clock Divider
3) connect the Sequencer Midi Source Out to the MIDI input of the groover
4) set the midi clock on the groover to external
5) press "Play" on the groover (nothing should happen)
6) set the midi source on the sequencer (cubase, sonar, etc) to internal
7) play your song on the sequencer

HAVE FUN!
ISSUE: on my setup, the "reset" signal is not transmitted from the sequencer to the groover, so when you stop and reset the sequencer, you must manually reset the groover
I didn't find out yet how to sync in the other sense.. if I find it out, I'll post it.. if anyone else does, I'll be happy to hear about it.

>>1) change the clock divider for the A or B
if you go to MIDI -> CLOCK you'll see in the menu "clock divider A", "clock divider B" and "clock divider C".
Clock divider A and B have a start/stop input, whereas clock divider C doesn't have one.
what you have to do is to remove clock divider C from the patch, add a clock divider A or B and plug it like the clock divider C you removed was plugged, and also plug the start/stop output in the MIDI clock to the start/stop input in the clock divider A or B you added.
if you don't do this, nothing will change, since clock divider C cannot handle start/stop signals.
hope this clarifies you a bit..
if you need more details, I can send you a picture of my modified 909 groover so you can see how this is actually done

hey guys
I'm trying to do this too but with logic. I changed the clockdivider over but it seems to be still slightly out of sync, although I think it's out of sync by the same fraction every time instead of all over the place with the clockdividerC. Any tips how to fix this?

I think that this thread:
