Hi. I don't remember this being talked, but just came to my mind.
Now, when you buy a plug you have to tell the serial number of your board, to get the activation key.
Can I change the serial number whenever I want (and thus get a new activation key)?

Consider this scenario. You have a scope and 15dsp SRB and you put them on full load. Your pc (mainly PCI) could easily blowout. Also, if you have extensive usage of VST's and maybe UAD/Powercore etc... so your PCI slots could be all filled. (Or you couldn't find a working configuration)

So, I would like to set up another PC and put another Scope there and use only synths'n'samplers there, and do the mixing on another. But I guess this is not possible right now, because when I buy scope sp (or PRO) all the plugs are registered with it, and can't use anything on the SRB. But I wouldn't like to buy those plugs TWICE to only use them in one computer.

I think the license should be per user (or to be precise, 'per all the boards one has'), not per board. Or is it so already?

This is a good thought. Now all your plugins are connected to the board number wich can actually cause problems. Another scenario would be if you have Pulsar 2 and Pulsar 2 SRB in your PC and all your plugins are registered on your Pulsar 2 card. If the Pulsar 2 card then is malfunctioned(as happened in my case ones)you could use the other board to save the day, but can't because all your plugins are registered for the broken one...

What a great way to "share" free devices. Register your friends cards in your name, and if one of you buys a plug-in, you can both use it.

if it wasn't related to a single board, the protection wouldn't work.
This must be a piece of code, preferably encrypted, executed on a non-general-purpose CPU and embedding a unique piece of hardware in the code - anything else is cracked literally in hours.
It's the price of piracy...

the only problem is that the software has to be registered to only one card at the time - so the problem I am pointing out is that you should be able to register it to one card of your choice - and change that yourself. The problem now is that if you are unlucky like I was with one of my cards (the registered card in fact) the other cards are suddenly useless piece of junk occupying your computer....

Well, maybe.. but only for a day or so.. I've never known Creamware to take more than a day (sometimes even less) to transfer a key. I think it's understandable that we do not have the power to transfer keys ourselves, as releasing that technology would no doubt lead to widespread piracy.

Also I think that the broken card situation is SO rare that it's not a valid reason, although my sympathies do go out to you in your situation.
