alfonso!!! only once a week?!?

it's the best i've EVER seen.
it's fantastic, it's hilarious, it's, well, whatever...
the mr bickford clay animations are truly wonderful.
i always tend to pick out 'city of tiny lights' (goose bumps, every time, at the end of the solo where all instruments join in), 'punky's whips' (one of my all time favs) and the tommy mars keys solo (crazy how he plays double handed leads AND sings the same notes seemingly effortless) when i don't have that much time.
the only minus for me is: horns. i think FZ is at his best when horns were involved (like on 'roxy and elsewhere' and 'live in NY' (one year before the baby snakes concert)).
almost forgot: the roxy trailer! now THAT would make me really cry of sheer joy if that one came out. roxy was my first encounter with FZ and still my favourite. one of my main musical activities at the moment is mastering some of his music. i recently learned how to play the echidna's arf bass part (on guitar though), and surprised myself i was actually able to somehow succeed (that is when doing it on my own. whenever i try to play along with the roxy version, i just sigh, put the instrument away, and do something else

damn, their soooo fast. some of the best musicians ever to be heard in a rock band. ROCK? hehe, what would frank say about that?)
last year, i also got me some terry bozzio cd's (my favourite zappa musician). their awesome too. normally i'm not that much of a drummer fan

but this is amazing stuff.
in january, the grandmothers made a stop here near antwerp. still a bit mad at my ex gf, because she only said a few days before the concert she didn't feel like going and hadn't paid for the tickets yet
1984? would that have been the 'porn wars' tour? about ten years ago, right after kurt cobain died, i was working in a club, when we had this aussie band called 'teen spirit' or something, playing nothing but nirvana covers. backstage the singer/guitarist was playing all kind of zappa stuff as a warming up, and he actually taught me how to play my first zappa song (zoot allures). when getting on their tour bus, this guy turned around, and threw me this ragged piece of red cloth...'here, for you' turned out to be the 'porn war' t shirt. you can imagine the young guy's joy... still have it and wearing it only on special occasions as it is practically falling apart. the kind man also was in 'austalia's most famous and best zappa cover band'... i believe him
btw... which mother would that be here on Z???

wouldn't be surprised if it were tommy. he would LOVE minimax, i suppose. damn now i'll be looking all over the Z to find out... don't worry, i'll be real humble, hehe.
(edit: was going through my 'CW mail map' to look for some old email, and guess what: had a li'l conversation with ed mann some time ago!!!! i'm not sixteen anymore, but now i realise, i'm shaking a bit

)
just got me the 'beat the boots' box. some great live recordings in that one too.
did i tell you i'm quite a big zappa fan?
