I recently loaded my PC with Windows XP (previously had Windows 98). When I installed CUBASE 5.0, I received the following error:
"The procedure entry point SMapLS_IP_EBP_12 could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll."
This version ran with no problems on Windows 98. I thought it might be an issue with Windows XP, but I have successfully installed an odler version of CUBASE on Windows XP with no problems. Any ideas?

It's me again. Thanks for your suggestion about the patch on the Steinberg service site. I downloaded and installed it, and now receive the following error:
"SYNCROSOFT POS ERROR MESSAGE
An error has been signaled by the Protection Object Server.
>Application 'Cubase VST/32' has caused the error
>No Protection Device connected.
Connect device and click OK to retry. Click cancel to abort"
Once this error message is cancelled, a new one appears stating:
"The copy protection key could not be found! Please make sure it is plugged into the printer port!"
I guess I'm a step ahead, but am still confused about this error. Again, does anyone have any words of advice?
Thanks

cubase now uses a dongle.if you have a dingle, you may need to upgrade it's firmware. if you don't have a dongle, you may need to contact steinberg.
the message refers to the syncrosoft dongle.
