It's no wonder we talk about it a lot in Britain! Any UK-ers will know what I'm talking about today...and yes, I did ride my bike into work...it's now gusting at about 80 mph outside and absolutely pouring down :-/

After mnths and months of steaming tropical temperatures between 30 & 40 degrees Celsius, it's finally starting to drop back below 30. Phew ! Queensland weather is hell.

I know that Europeans seems to love it. They come here wearing extremely ugly sandals (always how to spot a Euro) and seem to delight it getting bruned bright red. Don't know why, but doesn't seem to bother them.

I'm moving back to the temperate zone asap.

It's a little known fact that Englishmen who travel abroad actually possess 90% identical DNA to lobsters! Which explains the bright red backs...

I can't see what anyone finds entertaining about such races. These days the starting point on the grid is often the order of the finish. Even golf has more action !

I don't mind Ferraris parading 1st and 2nd (always been a big Schumacher fan except when he stuffed Damon Hill). They can parade as much as they like, but let's have the cameras where the action is in the middle order teams.

We got the 80MPH gales on Saturday and it was the worst gale in my living memory (and THAT is a long time).
The bad news is that even at 80MPH the damn conifers are still standing, but they are looking very thin - I have a 2 inch carpet of debris all over my garden!

Sunday update - Button got his first podium, shame about Webber (needs instruction on how to use a clutch)

Well, i thought he just pased by to say hey to the bosses, as they could not find him on page 1 of the standing!

...and garyb, I think those cars have some kind of handclutch

but, my dear old peugeot got clutch.

nope.they have torque converters.they have manually shifted automatics which have sequential shifting like on a motorcycle but no clutch and electronically activated and with the buttons on the steering wheeel....

it reached our area on saturday.
I returned from town by bike through the woods for some shelter from the wind
hell, what am I doing here ? wouldn't be the first one to be knocked off by a crashing branch
an extra hour of cleaning me, clothes and gear
they phoned me out this morning (sh*t) as electricity breakdowns had locked the office network on the weekend - easy fix, but why so early ?

F1 cars do have cluthes! Just not hydraulic ones - it's more like a micro-switch position that allows the driver to slip it for about half a second max. The driver needs to know the exact locaton off the paddle where the clutch will start to 'bite', hit that point then floor the gas pedal.

Changing gears is not done with the aid of the clutch, however.
