I had to reinstall the SFP software (long and very boring story). Since reinstalling though, I just can't get FX or synths to work in XTC mode (ie. as VSTs), when I did have them working fine before.

Trying to insert one of them (or wrap them using the CW VST Adapter) gets a "Not properly installed" error. Paths seem to be correct in the config files and the registry, doesn't matter what is in the xtcproject.pro file and I don't think I've done anything differently to last time.

Anyone?

i'm assuming you're using sonar.....you must close sfp to use the plugin enabler...

I know - I found that out the first time I installed. SO it's closed, but even if I use a native VST host, I get the same message.

Slightly solved - in a native VST host (I'm using Chainer as it's quick'n'dirty to run), it now works, but only if a) the XTC dll's are installed into a short pathname (C:SFCXTC works, C:Program FilesCreamwareXTC doesn't) or b) ini files are edited to replace long names with short 8.3 names (eg. C:/Progra~1/Creamw~1).

Still doesn't work for the VST Adapter and I had it working last week. So I'm still open to suggestions on that front.

reinstall..try sonar first right over the top.a file may be corrupted...otherwise, start over and save time.

Now if someone has got any sensible suggestions apart from reinstalling, which makes no sense given that the problem is with the Adapter not SONAR (for what it's worth, a new install of DirectiXer gives the same problems, so it's an issue with the Creamware/XTC side, not the wrapping), I'm open to ideas.

for most of us,(i have 2 machines running personally and there are two more nearby)all this stuff works properly.for you it doesn't.the problem is not what you think it is.if it was sfp, your vst host wouldn't work either......

cheers!if it's not a matter of settings,it's a corrupt file.there are thousands of lines of code in programs like sfp and sonar, lots of places for trouble.reinstalling takes about 120 seconds(right over the top of your current install).what's your problem?how could it hurt?

if things really won't work still after that,THEN i'd tell you to start from scratch, which although a hassle, will take less time than jerking around with it for weeks......

the order things get done in is crucial.i once couldn't get logic to work in xtc mode what ever i did.i had installed sfp first and even though the plugins were in the proper vst plugins folder, nothing.i had to do just what i am telling you to do(logic THEN sfp) and then things went fine.

of course,if you solve your problem a more elegant and to-the-point way,i'm happy for you.
