Does anybody work with 3 monitors, and so which grafic agp card?
I used to work on a matrox g550 dualhead with a seperate pci card for the 3d monitor. Because of the pci bandwith I had to get rid of the pci vga card but I really miss my 3d monitor.

The Parhelia cards are so expensive (and I don'tneed all the fancy 3d stuff) that i almost could build a seperate computer for pulsar. Ofcourse that's an option but I rather would like to have everything in one system. But hey...maybe I should buy a mac for logic and keep my PC for pulsar
Does anybody work with the cheaper matrox tripleheads? That might be a better option (if it works OK with pulsar).

have an Ati Radion AGP card (€ 100,-)with two monitor connections.
One monitor gets fed by the original mac card, the other is connected to the radeon.
So I could have three monitors this way, however dunno if I could get millions of colors.
I guess this should be possible on pc as well

There is the Matrox P750, lots cheaper than parhelia, or the P650, and P650 has no fan

But i don't know about them, never tried

Yes, I found the p750 with a netsearh, It looks OK to me except for the active cooling. Maybe it's possible to put a Zallman passive coolingsystem on it. The p650 is a dualhead and no triplehead so I can't use it.
Anybody got a matrox P750 and pulsar working in one system?
Hubird; I can't figure out how you did that? I'm missing something I guess

Ah now I see. Then the p650 with triplehead upgrade is 30-40 euro more expensive then the p750.
The advance is that the p650 with triplehead upgrade will be silent (no fan).
I guess I'll buy the p650 with triplehead upgrade.
all thanx for the info.

For a while I was running 3 screens...2 on a Matrox G400max(32mb)AGP, and the third was runing on a cheap TNTII PCI video card, it actually worked quite well. (And it was on my old PC, a lowly P3 1gig). The only reason I stopped using it was that all 3 monitors are CRT, and the 3rd one just took up too much room (it used to sit between my speakers, and also block the observation window between control/studio).
If you only initially get a dual head AGP card, try finding a PCI card (which now should be very cheap)...won't cost much to give it a go.
(BTW, I was/am using a LunaII card w/A16 Ultra)

I used to do that, but I had to set the latency too high to avoid cracks and pops. Now i've removed the extra vgapci card and the latency is back to 3ms ulli.

hi jerome,
did you go for the third monitor?
and if yes how?
I was also thinking to upgrade, does the p750 really make that much noise?

hi
I'm going to buy the matrox p650 soon, and as i've seen, there must be 2 option:
1 is a cable split for 1 monitor and 1 TV (and a unsplit monitor on other output)
this is sold for NKr 90 (10-12 euros)
2 i haven't seen, but on matrox web, is a lot more expencive.
Think i will buy that cheap cable, as i have a 22 or 24" TV .....just resting
Ooops - i would need a larger desk ...if...

Option one will very likely not give you tripple view. My best guess it, that the first monitor and the TV will have the same image. Others may KNOW.

The option for third monitor comes as an expansion for that video card, ask your dealer.

I have bought the P650 with the intention of going for triple head.
I have spoke to Matrox and it appears that the upgrade you buy unlocks the capability of the parhelia chip to give you triple head. Another thing to note that is the triple head capability only gives you analog outputs. The upgrade effectively give you the same capability as the P750 but without the fan
The official upgrade can only be purchased from Matrox online, don't know the reason why, but to purchase it you need to enter the serial number of the P650, you pay about 78GBP incl. packaging, and then you get the cables and the software to unlock the card.
This was my impression from the info i have seen. HTH.
