Subject: [AH] Waldorf Music
For those that haven't heard, Waldorf Music is gone.
Wolfgang Duren (Mr. Waldorf for the past few years) announced this week
that Waldorf is bankrupt and the doors are closed.
There are a number of companies looking to buy the intellectual property of
the company, but nothing is solid at this point. It will most likely be
quite some time before any real news is shared.
I've recently talked with a couple of the former key folks there, and
everyone that you associated with Waldorf have taken other jobs. Most that
I know of are retaining their skill sets within the industry.
As of this morning, the web server has been shutdown and the mailing list
has been taken offline.
A new list is in the process of coming up courtesy of Till Kopper, long
time Waldorf user. Info on the list and general news as he gets it is
posted up here:

More news as I can share it.

I was sure that I would buy the Q one day.
Aren't there any laws that rule the claim for garantee?
Germany normally has nice consumer protection.
the only positive effect could be the Q's in stock will get cheaper soon, tho I could see them getting more expensive either

Damn ! it looks like that actually there is a kind of big purge in the "entertainment " industry , lookin for cw probs , waldorf .Here in Paris some serious tv post prod and special effects studios have closed the door . In some other sound studios a kind of unknown guy buy through his holding some important studio structures ?? . In Universal they close the budgets , eject managers (ok universal is .... but make works some mastering , editing and prod structures ).....what happens ??
Maybe only some enormous trusts will pass through this crisis and buy all the technology ?
Hopefully i don't work in this industry.For me it is sad because it makes work lot of interresant people .

wow! This comes as a surprise. Maybe I should start hunting for a used Q? I've always wanted a Q, but found it a bit too expensive. Heck, but I like the Waldorf colors!
Hats off to yet another company to go down in synth history.

If they're really dead and buried, keep an eye on eBay. I imagine they will want to dump as much already manufactured goods to get a little money in the till for legal expenses. I'd bet in a couple of weeks you'll see all sorts of Waldorf components / expansions pieces on auction.

Nah, not many virtual synths sound that good. They probably had bad marketing like CW does.

Cammon Brain, even my gramma knows about them.... I'm serious, Virtual synths have got them down... It is a market thing, not a marketing one.
PCs and things like Noah ARE the future of electronic produced sounds.

I cant believe Waldorf is gone.
It makes me even more thankfull that CW is surviving.
