Hi I have to uad-1's and a pulsar 2. I had to sell my Hammerfall sound card because you can only use the Pulsar 2's outputs and inputs if you use xtc.
I have to use Xtx as I use Nuendo 2 ad use a lot of insert plugins and vsti synths like minimax. My problem is that I cannot get the audio ins to work at all no matter what I do.
Ideally I would like to use a different sound card like the new Emu 5. I thought the Pulsar 2 is just the Xtc card with ins and outs. Can I not use this card as a dsp card like the Uad-1's and have a card of my choice.

you won't find another card of higher quality, but if you remove the i/o board, then you have an xtc card which you can use a different soundcard with.i don't see an advantage to working like that, but whatever you like is fine with me.....

The I/O options of the Pulsar card will give you tremendiously more options than any other soundcard when you have got the hang of fixing the xtcproject.pro file!!

I have taken the card off of ebay : )
I will try to edit the xtcpro file, if it doesn't work I might put it in another pc and use it as an extenal synth as I work at 96k but the pulsar 2 doesn't gain a lot of extra quality compared to vsti's and effects. I'll let you know how I get on. I got the input working fine in sfp mode just not in xtc on Nuendo 2 : (

there are two projects, xtc.pro and xtcProject.pro.you must change xtcProject.pro.it is located in sfp/app/xtcapp.

I only run native synths at 96khz they sound horrid at 44khz. I am delving into the depths of the card now ......

Ok I have tried just about everything, I can get a mic signal into pulsar fine, even shows up in soundforge in sfp mode. I changed the xtcpro file many times. Starting to think this is a Nundo 2 thing.

Note that I didn't read the whole thread, but I wanted to add that if you ARE forced to use the i/o on your Pulsar(s) when in XTC mode you can just load a pair of adat source/dest modules and wire that to the RME's converters...

Are you sure you are editing the xtcproject.pro? (there are others there as well!) - are you using interface like A16 ultra or just the analog out on the pulsar?

yes,xtcproject.pro NOT xtc.pro!
