My Samplerate has gone missing.

I have a Pulsar 2 and a Luna 2 plus I have an A16 (old ADAT one).

When in the samplerate settings the 'System' box displays " -- " Even when I have Master selected and yes I have the A16 set to Optical. At this point the A16 blinks between 44.1 and 48.0 Khz meaning its getting no wordclock.

I have also tried to set the A16 to Master and the Pulsar to Slave. When I do this I still get " -- " in the system box.

When I select SPDIF as the source point, the ADAT option indicates that it is an available option. when I click on it, the indicator goes out.

I do have an ADAT A Source & Dest module in my project. I have tried the same with the ADAT B module and used the ADAT B ports on the card and have double checked that
they are cabled correctly.

For about the last 9 months I have been having some issues with the card overall. I was getting intermittent sync dropouts which I put down to ill-fitting Optical cables. I now have slinky thin ones which fit perfect but I installed them at the same time I did a complete hardrive format etc. At which time the 'System' box was blinking withthe selected samplerate. Since then I have also moved house and consequently the box. Now I got bubkus.

I fear that my card has gone to god.

Can anyone relive my fears?

I've had clock issues in the past, with blinking indicator etc, they went away when I moved the cards in a new case, very cooling, better power supply and a new mobo...

I guess that heat issues are involved, at least in my case, it could be also dodgy bus placement, not exactly sure of what, but check this before you panic, connecting and disconnecting could have moved the card a bit...

I might have agreed except that the cards had worked wonderfully in this machine for about 6 months until the sync dropouts began.

The case itself is a large case with plebty of ventilation, the downside being noise which I have lived with for the sake of knowing that the cards are well cooled.

This PC was built specifically to run my cards IE Good Asus board, good vid card, all other shit turned of etc.

I have the Pulsar in slot 2 and the Luna in 3 as they should be.

I'm worried....

Refering to your last post....did something go wrong just now...or have you been able to fix the "problem" ?

Nah your right. I do suspect that it is the Pulsar that shat itself so the Luna is prolly Ok but I'm depndant on my old A16 and with out the Pulsar i can't connect it cos it uses and ADAT connetion.

I'm a bit miffed.

have you tested all the cards seperately with no A16 connected, do they work ok as master clock? Test the PC with only pulsar 2 (no luna2) connected to A16 (slave and master). Test same situation with the luna2 installed.

sounds like the A16 is gone though.

you located in sydney, oz? if ya live close by you can drop by my house and test your gear with my convertor unit or pulsar2.

Hello!

I had the exact problem in the past myself. Look here and here.
After a lot of trials, I found out that the I/O card of my Pulsar 2 had gone a bit loose. I screwed it tighter and I cleaned the STDM cables with some alcohol. I havent experienced any problems since...

Hope that helps!

Thanks rodos - I will try all that. A suspect STDM Cable does sound like it might be the culprit.

Soul Synth - If it were the A16 I that had gone I should be able to get sync when its not connected using the card as master.

No lucky here.

Thanks to all. Please cross fingers, toes and..... Just tie a knot in it for me.

DO you know anyone else with something that uses ADAT optical? or maybe take it to a music store and hook it up to something "to see if [thing] works a16 with it because i might buy one"
you could check the A16 at least to rule it out as a problem.

I've actually moved recently and have a Pulsar shop walking distance from where I live (how expensive could that be???) so I will be dropping in there as soon as I have a moment in working hours.

I'll keep y'all posted.
