i know i should have changed the power supply and mobo sooner.. i was just waiting for my paycheck
i left my pc on at night as i usually do.. and when i wake up it's dead.. it just exploded.. and it took a few things with it.
all i'm left with is my 256mb ram, my p4 1.7ghz cpu, my video card, and a pair of network cards...
all else DIED.. at least the technician at the store said so...
he said when trying to run powersampler on a new mobo and supply, it stalls the pc..
it's an electronics store, so he said he'll try to save it for me.. i still feel all bummed out..

my question is, perhaps my local creamware dealer could fix/replace the card? or should i send the card to creamware germany? or is there absolutely no chance in hell it will work again?

also another question is, shouldn't the card come with protection from situations like these? such as my asus video card apparently..

Obviously some capacitors in the powersupply did burst - it has been reported in Germany a couple of years back where a frightening number of PSUs had that fault.

I feel very sorry for you, as it reads indeed fatal, unless only a simple part of the card is dead, but that's very unlikely.

Unfortunately you cannot protect a card with such a number of different power requirements easily. And you cannot predict what lines of the slot receive illegal levels from the mobo.

What happens is a matter of chance. Someparts were lucky, some not - and of course the more complex items are less resistant.

thanks all for your sympathy.. i might be able to get back on track.. i'm currently in the process of getting the card fixed, if not locally then being sent to germany.. it might cost me a bit.. according to my local creamware dealer, they won't take less than 150 euro, and that's not including shipping..
i'm starting to consider saving for a pulsar ii instead of repairing the card..

ugh.. i have a bad feeling this year.. too many expenses in one month...

Indeed, we all have our own problems... Ken has a broken PC right now, as I do myself... Well, this is life.

I think it would be better to get a new Pulsar II, if you can, but don't give up trying to repear the broken card, later.

Note:
You cannot expect for any manufacturer to spend money and time and research-technology to make others mistakes inocuous... This would make your card to double the price, or perhaps even more, it does not worth it.

I'm truly sorry this happend, I understand as a musician, how hard this is for you. But don't give up. Consider your experience with SFP, you already know what you do, how to do to get the sound, etc., this is also important. Keep going and take it easy, life has many surprises, and of course, there are also good ones to come...
