Is it possible to get the Pattern Sequencer module to start sequencing in response to a MIDI note-on (i.e. Gate) event?

I've tried lots of different connections and re-read the manual a few times, but it seems that one cannot use this module in this way.

What I would like to do is have the pattern sequencer start (reset) from PNo.1 when it receives a gate signal, looping through the patterns until the key is released.

You can connect a gate or module to the mvc gate out and send it's output to the start-stop input of the clock divider. This is good to have seq's playing only when midi note is pressed.

Then you can connect the same gate or output to the reset inputs of seq. modules, but leave the pattern seq. reset input empty. This is good to have all seq. modules start from the beginning of the pattern when a key is pressed.

Remember that also pattern seq. plays only when key is pressed.

You can then assign two midi CC's to start and stop buttons of pattern seq. to prepare it from the midi track to receive the clock when the note is pressed....just an idea..

I usually find easier to use the PS32 on a dedicated octave, so I just send midi notes to change patterns, but the use of the gate or as mentioned for the st-st of clock div. and for reset input of seq. modules is necessary ( on the other key zone of course)

Aye, that's how I have it at the moment.

That's what I'm trying to get going

Let me see if I've understood you correctly - the Pattern Sequencer is 'armed' by sending a MIDI CC to the start button, but it doesn't start playing until the clock is received - is that right?

Maybe the Monomorph Patch could be useful for you. Although it doesn't conatain a PatternSeq Module (which can be easily added) it can give you an idea on how to connect gate and other modules to start patterns and to vary with gate signals.
