When loading a new/different SFP project, Cubase complains that there's no ASIO driver loaded, no audio engine available etc.
I've tried re-switching the ASIO driver back to SFP (in 'VST Multitrack' under 'Device Setup'), but that doesn't cure the problem. The only solution I've found so far is to shut down and restart Cubase (SL, by the way).
Is there another way? I'd like to do this as I sometimes have two or three SFP projects related to the same song ... e.g. one for most of the work, and a 'Mix-down' project.
(I might also want to switch projects in both SFP and Cubase, but the same problem occurs).

as far as I know you can't change project in SFP without Cubase loosing ASIO.
You must quit Cubase before change SFP project, at least that's the way I must do it on my mac.
In fact I have some troubles to overwin if by accident I first quit SFP and then Cubase.
I'm used to it, tho it's not comfortable indeed.

You don't have to quit Cubase each time you want a new project.
Simply "Disable Audio" from the menus and then once your new project is loaded "Enable Audio".
I use it all the time.
Hope that helps
(Pulsar 3.1 with Cubase 32/5.1)

Had a look at my setup now.
Options > Audio Setup > Enable/Disable Audio
Edit > Preferences > Key Commands > Options Menu
I've set it to ALT + A with an icon and it appears on my User Menu ( Window > Show Toolbar )
Sorry - can't speak for other versions of Cubase

thanks Neil (and Orbita, from Thalamus' link, tho a bit different for mac)!
As long as CW doesn't come with SFP-OSX, I'll have to work with Cubase v.5, so I learnt something usefull

Yeah, they removed that switch with SX/SL 1.
But I've just discovered the alternative.
There's a "Release Asio driver in Background" option on the Device Setup/VST Multitrack page. Selecting that does what it says - you can change SFP projects without crashing Cubase.
Eureka!

I had cause to try this out yesterday - it worked as expected, but lead to an odd bug.
Whenever I switched windows from Cubase to SFP, all sound stopped! Switch back again, sound starts. After a bit of head scratching, I disabled the "Release ASIO Driver in Background" checkbox, and everything returned to normal.
Has anybody else seen this?
