I've been trying to work out the best way to get some more DSP oomph for my system, bearing the current round of Xmas offers in mind.
The SRB's still out of my price range, so to add to my current Pulsar II (Pro) setup, either the Luna II or the Pulsar XTC would seem to fit the bill.
After some Euro -> UKP calculations:
XTC (along with the Mix & Master pack) is currently 563UKP.
The best price I've seen for a LUNA II in the UK is 350UKP (about 495 Euros) and that's without the M&M Pack. Adding the M&M pack (current special offer price) to a Luna II gives 737UKP.
Based on this, the special offer XTC seems to be the way forward!
I have only been able to find the XTC at the following (UK) places so far:
615UKP at musicvillageschools
615UKP at Turnkey
689UKP at inta-audio
None of the above mention the M&M Pack thrown in as part of the deal. Besides, the current price should be 563UKP.
As far as I can tell, the XTC is not available at:
Dolphin Music, Digital Village or SoundsLive
I've checked out the UK's distributor website (
http://www.sonic8.com/creamware.html), but 'Pulsar II' and 'Luna II' aren't links to anywhere (unlike the other C-Ware products). Pulsar XTC doesn't even get a mention :-/
Does anybody have any ideas as to how to go about purchasing a Pulsar XTC in the UK according to the current special offer?
TIA,
Royston

http://www.thomann.de
publish their Pulsar christmas deals.
they always seem to have fair prices.
flat shipping rate to U.K: £15
Good luck!

Thanks for the tip...no sign of the special offers as yet, but already cheaper than anywhere in the UK (postage included)!

Just got an email reply from thomann:
Xmas Pulsar II M&M package: 999 Euros
Xmas Pulsar XTC M&M Package: 799 Euros
So...about 100 to 150 Euros difference (more expensive) from that advertised on Creamware's site... Still pretty good vfm, though!
I've asked a few more UK places too, but no reply from them as yet.

well, i think €698 is net, "before tax".
what really sucks is that XTC + MM cost €868 if you click the swedish flag...
no big surprise really, swedish taxes has always been sky high
well, i just bought a UAD-1 and a couple of Fostex pm-01's,
if i were to buy an XTC card now my girlfriend would probably consider packing her bags.
anyway, good luck with your forthcoming investment Roy!

Ah..yeah, that makes sense.

A 'Luxury' tax, similar to what they have in France?
Various flavours of UK Gov. have been trying to put VAT (our 'luxury' tax) on books. "Books, the luxury item". Fortunately, they haven't succeeded yet although they did put VAT on fuel, so that more old people die of hypothermia 'cos they can't afford to heat their homes
Oops...bit OT there.

Cheers 'Sun. So may things to buy, so not enough money...

Keep your eye on ebay. I recently got a Luna II with M&M pack for $900 AUS, and it's still under warranty. That's about 500 EURO. Only 3 DSP however. But I've seen a few Pulsar 2's and Power Pulsars hanging around.
Good Luck

I don't trust ebay particularly...a friend of mine nearly got ripped off recently by some bloke in Russia (detected by examining email headers from the seller) and ebay didn't do sh** about it. Also, I'd rather have a new product and the full warranty.

http://www.jrrshop.com offers free International shipping on all software & soundcard orders of $399 or more, including the Creamware cards. We don't have XTC's yet (expecting them next month) but our Pulsar II rates seem to actually be within or close to within the budget that you're aiming for.

This Xmas deal, do you have to get it from the Dealer, or can you buy a card from any dealer and then register for the free packs on the CW site?
I ask because I havent seen any UK dealers with the Xmas deal advertised.

That's a good question! I haven't received a reply from any of the UK dealers I've contacted so far though.
Might be worth asking Creamware directly about that one, I would have thought.

Xmas Pulsar XTC M&M Package: 799 Euros
Well, I have bitten the bullet and ordered it from Thomann! Ulp.
In all this time, not one UK company replied to me regarding this...guess they're all doing so well that they don't need any additional business
Thx again for the link!

Hi,
I beleive it has to be from a dealer who would honor the special.
Creamware ship the new boards with the software to the dealer so it is up to the dealer to give you the software.
so the software won't be flagged upon registration. It must be given to you by the dealer.

Hi
Does anybody know if the Pulsar XTC Xmas offer really contains FULL Mix'n'Master Pack or only those plugins that are mentioned in Creamware site?
There seems to be some misinformation between thomann and creamware.

I noticed that too. Thomann indicate that they include the M&M pack, so (hopefully) I'll find out for sure, soon!
I don't think they've shipped yet...they needed me to send a scan of both sides of the credit card and one of a recent statement as the order was over 500 euros. I sent that off a few days ago, but haven't heard anything since.

Hi Royston
I'm about to buy from thomann too, but this confusion about plugins makes me thinking.. I mailed to thomann and didn't get any reply. Usually they reply during one day.
However, it's a great offer, even with less plugins included. But I would miss the bigger mixer. Perhaps you could let us know when your order has been shipped to you.
Didn't know it's so complicated to order stuff from UK.. Here in finland, we just fill the order form and then we pay it to the local post office, when our packet has arrived.

Maybe you could try
http://www.musicians-gear.com - prices seem to be cheaper and I've found them reliable (but they can take up to 2-3 weeks to deliver the goods).

Quite a bit cheaper! 710 Euros for the Pulsar XTC + M&M Pack Xmas special.
I have sent another email to Thomann this morning, asking them how things are (or possibly aren't) proceeding with my order. They've been very quiet for then last 3-4 days.
