I've seen this query before but I can't seem to find the posts....

When I open Acid, I get the error message
"Creamware midi in/out one in use, input device driver midi in/out 2 does not exist", and similar with Play/Record 1 and 2.

I can't recall how to add the extra required drivers in the project. I'm working happily with Sound Forge without this problem......

Apologies for repeating questions others have asked but I just can't find the answer...

check device manager -> your soundcard -> properties -> settings. there you have "midi setup number of devices" set a new value in the box.

hope that does it.

Tried that, no joy.

Also enabled Creamware Midi In/Out 2-8 in Acid. Restarted and got the error message

"Error in Toolbar"
Input driver Creamware Midi In/Out 1-8 Do not exist
Output driver C'ware Midi In/Out 1-8 Do Not Exist

I'd better have a good look at my project....I suspect this is the cause. If anything else is obvious......comments welcome.

check wether you got midi source and midi dest routed in your pulsar routing window,

also check if you got seq-dest and source routed.

Thanks for that....I'm hoping that's what it is..........

Ah...got back to my audio computer tonight... got it....I had told Acid that I was using C'ware 1 Midi In/Out and C'ware 2 Midi In/Out, but I hadn't included a second midi source/dest in my project.. I had also missed (at some point) connecting Seq/sourc/dest.....you were right, Timingless
.
So thanks for your thoughts and suggestions.

I don't understand why I can't run Asio Scope as my driver option....I get an insufficient memory message... but it does work with the other choices. Also don't understand why I can't set sample rate to 96k in Creamware...Acid won't co-operate when SFP is set to 96k.

But now I can program midi in Orion, bounce to Acid, multi-track audio in Acid and edit in Sound Forge...at least at the beginner stage. I'm delighted...I'm gonna have to stop goofin' off around Z and do some music...thanks to all.

Ah, if guess that if my source material wasn't 96k, Creamware sample rate must be set to whatever rate is appropriate for source material....

Hey Timingless, I just found your first post............I'm still chuckling.....and I'm not sure why....and...I only JUST got the "Aha...Wuppertal"....call me thick....I thought it was a quirky message.....trust me to miss the obvious.

Let's run over some obvious driver facts. Amount of drivers is set in Device Manager, on the CW card's properties. Under WinXP, all drivers made available under DevMgr should be loaded in the project. Creamware's MIDI drivers are not multi-client, but you can assign as many as you want.

About sample rate: try different latency settings, higher sample rates require more of your machine. Can Acid work with 96kHz? Does it work on the WAV drivers, instead of ASIO?

Hey thanks atomic....I appreciate your input. When I'm on a steep learning slope, nothing is obvious.....except my ignorance.

I'm running everything at maximum settings (96k etc) to see what my card and machine can handle and how it sounds. The wave drivers work fine with Acid, I just don't understand why the Asio Scope won't...

Somthing I don't fully understand...could someone please finish these sentences for me?

I would choose an Asio driver when.....
I would choose an Asio2 driver when...
I would choose a Wave driver when....

Ignorance is bliss... I'm smiling a lot lately........
